Carnival Splendor ?'s

We are thinking of cruising on the Carnival Spendor the end of March, or the first part of April. If you have been on this ship within the past year, would you give me (yes I know this is YOUR opinion) your pros/cons of this ship?

Was on the Splendor last Sept and have booked it again for next Sept. The ship decor is "odd", but that doesn't have any bearing on us sailing the ship or not. Food was good as it usually is on the Carnival ships. It is equivalent in size and layout to the Freedom, Liberty, and Conquest. Staff was responsive and attentive. Pool is a little small but again, not a big issue. What I did like was that there was a covered area on the deck above the pool which provided more shade. All in all, just the typical ship Carnival puts forth, which is a good value and quality.

Are there any specific items you are interested in knowing that are of concern?

Just got off ship on Jan 4-11....I am platinum and if the Splendor had the 2.0 upgrades it would be my favorite. The pink panther circles everywhere where odd but loved the layout. 3 pools, all meeting rooms were bigger then most, the covered pool area was nice and never seemed crowded. The serenity area was not as nice as others but was quiet.

We are booked on Splendor February 8th.

THe only reason I booked was because of the Mongolian Grill

The ship does not have Guys burgers but a dedicated grill to get your burgers, dogs or grilled chicken.

It has a rotisserie instead of fish and chips.

Each time we sailed the Splendor I got cravings for pink glazed donuts.

Do not look at the ceiling in the Pink Pearl MDR. Those don't look like pearls to me. :p

Yes. The decor is definitely interesting. I looked to see if I had any picture of it but then thought DUH. It annoyed me, so no. No pictures haha. I sailed in 2010 so not much help. But I enjoyed the MDR waiters. I sailed on Miracle last year and our wait staff was horrible (not showing up to our table for 30 minutes past our sit down time more than once and bringing us another table's orders two nights in a row) so in comparison to Miracle, Splendor was outstanding. But I've only sailed twice =) I liked that the casino was a separate area. On Miracle, you had to walk through the casino to get to certain areas and that bothered me. I hope you have fun!!

Did a B2B in October/November. I thought it was a beautiful ship. The maître D in the back dining room was fabulous. This is one of my favorite ships. It's kind of a toss up between it and the Liberty.

We sailed the Splendor twice, most recently in October. We really like the layout and the lido deck pool area with the movie screen and retractable roof. We thought the crew was great and the decor was interesting, but didn't bother us.

We were on Splendor last week.

Our party found all the negative comments about the pink themed decoration to be extremely overblown. It;s not all a "pepto bismol" pink. If we hadn't heard anything about the decor color we honestly wouldn't have even given it a thought.

We have sailed Fantasy, Elation, Glory, Legend, and we enjoyed Splendor just as much as our previous cruises.

Some things that stuck out:

-EVERY staff member was very friendly and accomodating.

-Had no problems with the lay out of the ship

-With some rain on embarkation day it was nice to have the cover over the Lido deck.

-Liked the Mongolian Grille

-Enjoyed ourselves at many comedy shows in the El Morocco Lounge

-Enjoyed the MDR and the Deli

-I was never happy with the cocktail service at dinner on all my previous cruises. On the Splendor we had no problems at all. We could have as many drinks as we wanted during dinner, (or brunch), without waiting.

I have two extensive photo reviews of the Splendor in my signature. Pretty much covers everything you'll want to know.
