2016 Brides!

Recommended Posts

Thank you! I wanted something that was beachy/nautical but laid back also. I finished our website before I sent the invites out because guests have to RSVP on the website. I got ALL of my inspiration from previous cruise bride's wedding websites. It was so helpful to see what others have done seeing as our weddings are not traditional. I'm still working on some things (like accommodations and our registry but here it is if anyone needs ideas!

Only 16 more days until we get married in Port of Miami on the Carnival Fantasy!! Getting so excited! Everything is just about ready to go, just a couple small last minute things to do. All I do now is wait for that call to go over final details. This board and all of you brides have made this whole experience so easy. Questions that I've needed answers to I've been able to find those answers here like parking, drinks for non sailing guests while they wait, how to carry everything onto the ship, etc. Thank you to all of you!!! We decided to go the easiest route and not bring on a bunch of decorations. All we have is a shadow box that I made to use as guest book, wedding favors, cake topper and a card box. My cousin is making silk bouquets/bouts for me and that's it....SIMPLE!!! Everyone keeps asking me if I"m stressed or nervous and I tell them NO that's the best part of getting married on a cruise ship.....NO STRESS!!! :)

For those of you who have already gotten married this year, did Carnival allow you to play music for your guests in the ceremony space while they were waiting for the wedding to begin?

Carnival provided music that was played during this time. The wedding that we crashed during our boat tour provided their own music during that time.

I just have to say that a girl can do all the planning in the world for that perfect wedding and until you get to that moment and realize all the planning couldn't make that moment you share exchanging vows with your new husband any better. Nothing else matters once you are looking into each others eyes falling even more in love than every day previous to that day.

Ladies don't sweat the details...just enjoy each and every moment.

Now with that being said I want you all to know that Carnival did an amazing job on our wedding! It really couldn't have gone any smoother from start to finish. We arrived at the cruise terminal and everyone directed exactly where we needed to go. Met our coordinator right at security and everyone was escorted to a little waiting area. Lucky for us we got through customs rather fast and were aloud to board by 11am. We went to the room and we all quickly finished getting ready. Now I have ready about the 20 minute wait that the bride does alone and let me tell you reading about that freaked me out a little, but luckily the photographer came and took pictures during this time. Speaking of the photographer....Janet was AMAZING!!! Words cannot express how grateful I am to her for capturing every single moment perfectly.

We had our ceremony in the Universe Lounge which is where they hold all the big shows. We came down from the second floor....this was the scariest thing that happened....walking down about 25-30 stairs in my dress...whew thank goodness my dad was there to help me down. The ceremony was absolutely amazing, then off to the reception. Now while this was quick and seemed like it was over in a matter of seconds it was perfect. Got to spend a little time with each guest and thank them for coming, dance a little, drink a lot and just plain be happy. Our package was the Celebrate Big package and it was just perfect. Opting out of the traditional things such as garter belt and flower toss. Then everyone that wasn't sailing had to leave us so we could get our extended party on for the weekend.

Everyone talked about how expensive the photos were.....yes the packages were expensive, but I have to say after seeing what an amazing job Janet our photographer did I just had to have it all. And in my own opinion it was worth every penny.

Again though ladies I get that you want the day to be so special and perfect but the only thing that mattered to me after it was all said and done was the moment when I got to my groom and the tears were running down his face. And the look in his eye when we were saying our vows and the little squeeze of his hand during the ceremony to calm me down. No decorations, no cruise line, no reception, no planning can make that moment any different or any better.

A remind that it never hurts to ask...

My fiance was having trouble deciding what to do about formal wear because of not being able to return his and his groomsmen's tuxes the next day but also not liking any of the options from the cruise line's rentals (they don't have vests in mint green like my bridesmaids' dresses).

Well after ~4 months of me pushing him to just ASK, he finally took his butt to Men's Warehouse. The associate that greeted him wasn't sure what she could do, but she happily got her manager involved. The manager turned out to be even nicer, and after explaining the cruise wedding situation, she simply asked my fiance, "So you're saying if I just waive the late fees for the tux returns, you'll rent with us instead of the cruise line?" Beyond that, they were even willing to accommodate one of the groomsmen who is out of the country for work and doesn't return until one week before the wedding.

Needless to say my fiance is thrilled (and me too). It never hurts to just go ask and see what they will do for you!!!

Now we're just 45 days from the wedding and I'm starting to tie up all the loose ends. Last night I came up with a crossword puzzle and a word search with clues about us as a couple for guests to do while waiting to get on the ship. Still left is to make the music list and find jewelry for my bridesmaids.

Congrats to all the other cruise brides out there!! Wooo!!

For those of you who have already gotten married this year, did Carnival allow you to play music for your guests in the ceremony space while they were waiting for the wedding to begin?

We prepared an hour of carefully selected songs to be played and made two copies of the cd. Unfortunately, it was not used as directed. I was told one of the songs chosen was "Wrecking Ball". Not my favorite moment. I am told I will laugh about this one day. I will let y'all know when this day comes.

We are booked on Carnival Splendor sailing May 7, 2016 and are having our ceremony on the beach in Grand Turk May 9th! All our save the dates went out and payments have been made. It feels like all there is left to do is wait.

@SUorange86, congratulayions on your wedding! We're booked for our wedding 2/26/17 on the Splendor and getting married at Grand Turk. Any advice for us?

Good morning all fellow 2016 brides!

I have made it to the 3-month countdown and everything has been moving along smoothly for the most part. All aspects of the wedding are pretty much taken care of, but I am having one little issue with the actual cruise booking and wondering if anyone can give me some input. We have ourselves plus I think 10 other cabins booked however, we are not in a group booking (I couldn't get enough to book all together in the beginning to get the group rate and once I had all 8 booked Carnival told me there was no more group space available on my sailing) and we did not go through a travel agent (all parties booked online via Carnival.com.) I've called Carnival to try and link all of our cabins together for dinner dining purposes for the 4 nights of the cruise, and according to them the only way to do it is for every person to call Carnival, set up a pin #, give that pin # to me, and then me call and give pin #, every person's birthday and name in order to link every single booking number to my booking number. I really don't want to do this for 2 reasons. 1st of all, I don't want my guests to have to worry about me and fiance having access to their bookings and 2nd of all, it seems like an awful lot of work/information gathering/time spent on the phone with Carnival. I am planning on sending an e-mail to the maitre d' at about 1 month out requesting each cabin to be put together for dinner in the main dining room. Do you all think this would be sufficient or is it risking it? I'd hate for some of our family or friends to end up at other tables with strangers for the duration of the cruise. We have a number of first time cruisers and I want them to be comfortable and not feel left out. It seems like there should be an easier way than described above to handle this.

Other than this one issue, I am happy to report things have been going according to plan and pretty low-stress in the wedding planning department!

I hope you all are doing well with your planning and any input or experience that you may have on this issue I'd love to hear it! Thank you!!

We planned our actual cruise with a Carnival PVP (personal vacation planner). We asked our guests to use our booking number when they booked either online or with our PVP so Carnival could link all of our guests to us. I wasn't sure if that would fly but we got a confirmation email last week when we paid our cruise balance off and all of our guests booking numbers were added on to it as being "linked" to us for dining. So you could try calling Carnival and adding all your guests booking numbers..but my guess would be that they would make your guests call in and link themselves to yours. I have never heard of a pin or having to get birthdays or anything though. That seems excessive. Hope this helps!

Hi everyone! I can't believe it is already August. Our NCL wedding cruise sails in less than a week! I've been pretty quiet and lurky around here, but I want to thank you all for everything I've learned getting ready for our wedding. We've never been on a cruise before, so adding the logistics of getting married onboard has been a bit intimidating at times.

We are sailing from Vancouver to Seward, Alaska on the Norwegian Sun, and getting married onboard when we dock in Juneau. We have 10 sailing guests and 6 non-sailing guests, so it's small, but not nearly as small as I had expected. The ceremony is at 2pm with a one hour reception at 3:00, so I'm hoping we can all take the Mount Roberts Tramway afterward and get in some sight-seeing.

We got super cute save-the-date cards and invatations from Zazzle, and set up a wedding website to share information based on advice received here. We decided to put together welcome bags, but apart from water bottles (from discountmugs.com) we tried to keep the goodies small and most of them are consumable (granola bars, insect repellant, air fresheners, ginger candies) to minimize any re-packing hassle we might inflict on our guests. Thanks to all the brides who have shared their welcome bags, you provided a ton of awesome ideas for us! I'm almost finished with the welcome letters (using a newsletter template from Apple Pages) and I think they look pretty nice. :)

Working with ROE has been relatively painless. The only hiccup was trying to make sure my instructions to provide gluten-free food for my father had been heard and passed on. This took about four e-mails back and forth, but eventually everything was settled and we even have gluten free cupcakes arranged.

I think we're ready to go! Everything is packed except my dress. We have a cd of (slightly geeky) music for the ceremony, rings in the carry-on, and instructions on how to find the dock and the Observation Lounge e-mailed to the non-sailing guests. Now I just want to get there! :)

I'll be sure to post with all the details when we get back. Thank you, thank you for sharing so much amazing information here!
