Hi,

So all going well I will be booking to go on this ship fro next Jan. It is a full charter so it may be a bit different from average cruise.

I have never been on a cruise before. So what I am wondering is this ship a good ship for a first timer? I will be 35 and looking forward to trying cruising at long last :D.

A few months back I thought it was going to be the Allure that we were going on and many people said it was not a great ship to experience a first time cruise on.

So is the Navigator a nice ship? I looked at pics and from a first time cruisers point of view I have to say it looks similar to a lot of ships lol. Is it a good size? Do people tend to like this ship? I have read some reviews and seems quite mixed. Gets me down a bit people saying how much standards dropping etc. That is why I thought I would ask here.

Thanks for any help.

she's not as big as the mega ships but not as small as say Enchantment or Grandeur.

she's actually a very nice size that encourages you to get out and about. Okay, no zip line but she does have Flow Rider and the golf simulator. even on sea days there wasn't a huge competition for 'good' loungers at either pool.

the Promenade gets crowded when the big sales are going on, or when they have to move the pool party inside, but inside the Pub and Vintages it is actually quite pleasant

I'd say for a first timer its a perfect size to get a feel for what's out there. some pf the bells and whistles without being totally overwhelmed with what there is. make sure you see the Ice show. it is a MUST do.

I may be biased,am 86, but the crew has always been very friendly and helpful. When entering the Wind Jammer, the buffet, the Asian food will be offered first, then the American/European food. Meals are aft and entertainment forward. You can obtain snacks 24/7 on deck 5, near Ben & Jerry's. New television screens provide instructions how to find you room, other screen will inform of activities, and locations. You will love it, I do. Planning on my 4th cruise in May with my daughter. Have fun.

Imho the very best size/class of ship you can possibly try for a first timer on Royal Caribbean. The second you step off the gangway onto deck 5 and look into the Royal Promenade, you are not going to believe what you see. The pool deck is awesome, the sports deck with Florider is awesome, watching the ice skating show will be awesome, the first time you walk into the Main Dining Room and look up your jaw will drop. Great theatre with great shows, excellent bars, you're going to have a blast :D:D

p.s. Make sure you take the time to walk around the ship on all decks at some point to explore. Be sure you go the the very front of the ship on the helipad at least once during your cruise (outside on deck 5, follow to the front of the ship and up the stairs).

Now after reading that i want to go sooner :D

You see pictures etc, yet I think its still going to shock me what it all looks like in the flesh. Hard to really comprehend without seeing.

Exciting. Yes i will be sure to explore the whole ship.

I am not sure where parties would be hosted on the ship and if it has a night club. I think when Atlantis charters the ships they use the pool deck for parties.

Will it matter too much where my cabin is? Guessing most things fairly easy to get too?

Here is the itinary.

Jan 23 ~ Jan 31 RCCL Navigator of the Seas

3100 plus guests

Departs Fort Lauderdale to Labadee, Grand Cayman, Cozumel Mexico and Roatan Honduras

Not sure I would have chosen some of these ports. Will google them.

As said it will be a Charter company taking over the ship. So in some ways I guess the ports are a added bonus. Will all be new so will still be great fun.

Hey Tark, to look at a ship tour with pics, click below in my signature ... "Navigator Full Review".... and Scroll down to post #6. You'll get an idea of everything from the Helipad, The Royal Promande, Theatre, Main Dining Room, Casino, etc etc... enjoy :D. I've got a review of Roatan and Cozumel in the review as well.

The nightclub will be top deck in the former "Viking Crown Lounge", now called the "Cosmopolitan Club". What cabin you in?
