Port Canaveral

This is a little deceptive as 4 of the ships have their homebase at PC. Only Grandeur and Quantum made this a port stop. As a resident of the area, I sometimes think the same way, but it's really because I am a resident and have done everything. But as a visitor, I would think this area would hold a lot of activities for folks- Excursons to Orlando where there are a lot of things to do. Yes, I know it's an hour bus ride. On my TA last year I didn't think twice about taking an 1 1/2 hr bus ride to Florence for a 1/2 day excursion. KSC visitor center is a short hop from the port. Cocoa Beach has lots of beach activity. Indian/Banana River ECO tours, kayak/canoe/airboat, you name it. There really is a lot to do.

WEGL81 - seeing as you are a local you may be able to help me with a question about wine.

We will be staying at the Radisson in June. I'm not picky with wine and figured the racetrack gas station next door would have the soda for our needs and I'm hoping they have wine?? Would you know about the gas station next door to the Radisson? If they have wine - would they have a Malbec?(red)

Thanks in advance for any insight you have.

will you have a car?

if so just a lil way down A1A is an ABC Liq' store with an excellent wine selection and not too bad prices. Not much farther is a Publix grocery and they also have a decent selection but the prices a tad higher.

If no car, Cape Canaveral Liq's delivers . . . but prices are not as good IMO

Racetrack has a fine selection of malt liquor, they didn't have any wine last time I was there

I am concerned about the current traffic jams into and out of the port. We have sailed from PC many, many times but in the past year whatever changes they have made to traffic flow STINKS!!

The past several cruises we have sat on a shuttle at least 30 + minutes just trying to make our way up to the terminal to be dropped off. Was never a problem until this past year.

What in the heck are they planning on doing once the Oasis arrives? I know the Freedom is leaving but the Oasis holds a lot more!

Between the 888 Taxi situation and now this traffic mess I have got to wonder who's running the place?

But.....I still love PC and will continue to sail from there every chance I get! :p

I haven't noticed any traffic jams at the B terminals yet. I have been there on a couple of Sunday's recently.

the terminals in the west basin, all of which are also north of the ship channel are considered the A side, while the new terminal 1, and old terminals 2,3,(4 technically there is no 4 but you sometimes see references to it . . .) are on south or B side. To get to A you must cross the draw bridge . . .
