Sir Cruise-a-Lot Posted March 3, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 3, 2015 What dates are considered spring break dates. We have the Pride scheduled for Feb 28 next year. Hoping that is ahead of the spring break crazies.

hotsauce126 Posted March 3, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 3, 2015 College spring breaks are usually early to late March, younger spring breaks are usually mid March to mid April. You might get a few college students with early spring breaks on your cruise.

<3 2 Cruise Posted March 3, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 3, 2015 Carnival usually raises the prices noticeably on the traditional spring break dates. If you have a reasonable rate, may not be a "spring break" week!
loubetti Posted March 3, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 3, 2015 For example, Florida Atlantic University started this week (3/2). The same for Lynn University. However, University of Miami is 3/7-3/15. And the list goes on and on! Figure March.
almendrada Posted March 3, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 3, 2015 I'm a college student. My spring break is next week. In 2016, it will start March 6 (which is why we're cruising that week) :)

k2excursion Posted March 4, 2015 #10 Share Posted March 4, 2015 Spring Break is usually in March, especially for college. The Spring Break "crazies" don't usually go on cruises. They go to the popular beachfront hotel spots. For high school & lower, some parts of the country have Spring Break in April, and those that have it in April have no idea that most of the country actually has it in March. Cruises are always way more expensive in March compared to April, so that says a lot about the more common time for Spring Break. I did one Spring Break cruise (mid-March), and the crowd was no more drunken or crazy than any other cruise. I have done a few cruises that fell into the time that the Northeast gets Spring Break in April, and the ship was flooded with families from there, and it was no more drunken or crazy than any other cruise I've taken. In fact, I think that people behaved more appropriately on those cruises than ones I've taken at other times.
dlbutler5 Posted March 4, 2015 #11 Share Posted March 4, 2015 I wouldn't worry about the college/HS people as much as the little 14 and under things that would be crowding the ship. Kids are horrible and should be left at home until 18.
k2excursion Posted March 4, 2015 #12 Share Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) I wouldn't worry about the college/HS people as much as the little 14 and under things that would be crowding the ship. Kids are horrible and should be left at home until 18. I really hope that you're joking and it went over my head. Kids are a joy. Their enthusiasm & enjoyment for life are such a blessing & inspiration. Sure, they need to be taught lessons in some areas of social behavior, but it will be impossible for them to EVER learn these lessons unless they are able to be a part of society. If they are locked up at home or locked away in kids-only groups, they will not learn these extremely important life lessons. And we, as adults, should help the parents and not tell the parents to remove these kids from our glorious presence. Kids who are a part of the community/society learn how to behave properly. Kids who are not a part of it never learn. Adults who don't know how to help or don't want to can just ignore the kids or go to the adults only areas/events. Almost every problem I have seen on cruise ships have been with adults and not kids. They misbehave way more than the kids do, probably because they also never learned these lessons. My sailings with the fewest kids on board have had the most behavior problems. Edited March 4, 2015 by k2excursion
almendrada Posted March 4, 2015 #13 Share Posted March 4, 2015 Kids are horrible and should be left at home until 18. I'm sure you're kidding, but I have to say I'm really glad my parents didn't subscribe to this philosophy. I personally think that giving a kid travel experiences is one of the best ways of raising a well-rounded, thoughtful human being. Especially if the family lives in a small-town or rural environment, this may be one of the only ways to introduce a child to different kinds of people, and different ways of life. snowskier Posted March 4, 2015 #14 Share Posted March 4, 2015 I work in the resort / vacation / tourist industry, where spring break crowds are huge. People come here from all over the country (world) for spring / winter break. It is pretty crazy from the third week of February until mid April every year -- doesn't matter when Easter is.
