Booking next cruise onboard

Quick question, is there any advantage to booking your next cruise while cruising with Princess? Aside from using a FCC that you could purchase onboard, do you get anything extra? We never have booked while on a cruise, just have purchased FCCs in the past.

Thanks in advance.

We never book onboard, we purchase FCC's and book when we get home.

Have never seen a reason to book onboard. Dealing with the future cruise person is difficult as they are usually swamped too. :(

We just drop the form in the box, no need to talk to anyone. ;)

Once in a blue moon there is a special offer (once it was double OBC), but 99.9% of the time the only advantage of booking onboard is being able to select your exact cabin which might not be available if you wait until you return home.

Of course if there is sale pricing that is available (would be the same that day from home or on the ship) that will not exist after the cruise, you could book it while on the ship.

If you do book onboard, you can xfer the booking to your favorite Travel Agent any time before final payment is due. And if you TA has discount TA pricing and/or provides extra amenities, you can still get them from your TA.

In the vast majority of the time, no. It does give you a chance to do a face to face discussion though with a Princess agent if you have questions or special requests instead of a telephone call assuming you are booking directly with Princess. If you are booking with your TA at home, it probably is better to get the FCC (one for each of you) and book at home with them.

I've never seen it as a great deal. If anything, it's an opportunity for them to hook you in before you have a chance to comparison shop with a TA or against other cruise lines running similar itineraries.

Unless it is past final payment time, you still can go home and comparison shop with TAs. If you find a better deal, you can transfer your booking to that TA.

Unless it is past final payment time and if the deposit is refundable, you can also see what other cruise lines are offering once you get home. If you find a better deal on another cruise line, you can cancel the Princess booking at no cost to you.

If Princess wanted my business that bad they would have at least kept the double FCC credit program in place all the time as they offered a few years ago. ;)

Although we'll continue to sail predominately on Princess, at home I can at least have the time to do some comparative shopping rather than just select a cruise from a book which offers us nothing at all.

It was only offered, as far as I know, for a few months in 2008.

Exactly what we do! Much easier to book through our TA once back home! :D

We have some long time cruise pals from England who find it better for them to book while on board.
