fa Posted April 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2015 We're on the Allure of the sea Mediterranean cruise in June. 2 of our tours include visiting a winery, can we purchase wine and bring it on the ship without getting it confiscated?
CruiserBruce Posted April 21, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2015 The far better place for your research is the RCI board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
Rare John Bull Posted April 21, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 21, 2015 (edited) You're permitted to take aboard 2 bottles of wine per cabin, to drink in the cabin/on your balcony. But that applies only to your port of embarkation. Mebbe in the circumstances you can persuade security to make an exception. If not, there's no problem taking aboard at a port-of-call any quantity of any alcohol - it will be taken from you at the gangplank and you can reclaim it on the last day of your cruise. Bear in mind any Canadian customs limitations /allowances for stuff you take home. Perhaps also customs limitations at your disembarkation port (UK? Spain? No problem with as much booze as you can physically carry if purchased in a EU port). But theoretically only a litre of spirits & two litres of wine per adult if purchased outside the EU, though customs there might turn a blind eye since you'll be in transit. t_car Posted April 21, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 21, 2015 On a port of call, there are no exceptions. It will be confiscated and returned to you on your last night to take home with you. Unless you want to polish them off on the last night. :p:D
GUT2407 Posted April 22, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2015 What you take on in Port has to be surrendered till last night.
trish1c Posted April 22, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 22, 2015 You can bring wine on to any ship. Whether you can drink it on board is a whole other issue which varies by cruise line. You need to look at RCL's policies or ask on that board. At worst you will get it back when you disembark. At best you will pay corkage.
