Fascination- which deck is best to get the room on

I just booked a 5 day cruise out of Jacksonville on the fascination ship. This is the first time I will be on the smaller cruise ship. I am in the middle of a ship with my room and I also got decks number 5 which is the main deck. Let me know your thoughts and opinions on if deck 5 is good or if I should get deck 4 or 6 or 7. I am decent at motion sea sickness but it is a smaller ship so I'm not sure if even being on a low deck will even help me

We just booked this cruise on the Fascination also. We did Main Deck which is 6 I think in the middle of the boat. We pay an extra $10-15 to be up a few floors because I have horrible motion sickness as well. Also, an ocean view cabin I think makes it more tolerable.

We have a balcony at the rear, but I can ride on the nose of the ship and wouldn't get seasick. For that reason, any deck, any section is good for me. My wife can handle nearly anything as welll. If it get a little bad on her, she'll pop one of those sea-sickness pills and she's ok.

 

I say all this to say, it won't matter where you're at if you can handle the motion of the ocean.

We like the empress on the Fantasy class ships. The promanade deck is two floors below and the Lido is two floors above. We very rarely us the elevator when we book the Emoress.

Balcony is nice. I have had it on my past 2 cruises but honestly this time we are hoping to be walking around the ship more and enjoying the comedy and shows. I also heard from the previous year that the lower you gp and be in the middle of the ship then you most likely won't get sea sick. My first 2 cruises I never felt anything but that's because I was on the dream and breeze. This cruiss I'm a little worried since it's smaller ship

I am finding out that many people are thinking that motion is the opposite of what it actually is. Lower rooms feel LESS motion, not more. That has been my experience as well. So, if motion is a slight to moderate concern for you, then I think Main deck is the perfect deck for you, especially if you can get a room as close to midship as possible. On this style of ship, I tend to prefer either Main or Upper deck.

 

Gamecock Cruiser is actually talking about a totally different style of ship. For ships like Fascination, it doesn't work that way. Unless you are staying way up in the deck 11 rooms, there will be nothing but rooms below you. You will never go downstairs (from your room) for anything, except to get off the ship in port. The promenade, dining rooms, & pool/buffet are all above the rooms. Deck 7 (Empress) is right below the dining rooms, galley, & bottom floor of the theater. Being below the dining rooms are great, but there could be noise issues otherwise.

I agree. I have heard that lower that you are and the more mid ship you are then less likely you will get sea sick. I am booked on deck 5 (main) in a room that in the middle of the ship so I'm good. I'm just hoping doing a bahamas cruise in September is a smart thing with being hurricane season

Okay, so you are midship. However, most of the time you won't be in the cabin anyway and all over the ship.

Empress deck only for us on Fantasy class ships. It's one deck up for dining rooms, two decks up for Promenade, and three decks up for Lido. We never use on elevator on Fantasy class.

If you're afraid of getting sick, why not take Bonine, Dramamine or the patch to.prevent it? That's what I do. Why wait until you're sick, wait for meds to kick in and miss out on all thr fun.

I have cruised the Fantasy class ships numerous times. I love the lay-out and ease of navigation around the ships. They also seem less crowded than the larger ships. My favorite deck is the Empress deck. I love the Atrium bar and the alcove to the side of that. It's a nice place to meet the others traveling with us before dinners, shows, etc. I find that I seldom have to take an elevator, as this floor is closer to the action. I prefer aft on this floor though, because once we were too close to the Atrium bar, and the noise was audible at night in our cabin. This didn't ruin our cruise, as we travel with a fan for the white noise, but it might have been upsetting to light sleepers. I hope this helps!

We always go for an OV on the Main or Upper Deck on the Fascination. But, more important to us is being close to the Central Elevator Bank!:)

Up a few decks and you are close to everything.....especially the Casino, Promenade Deck and the other decks above with food, drinks and pools...etc... Although you may have to walk a bit to get to the Theater, or the aft lounges or pools, it is still a great starting point for most of your onboard adventures.

Deck 7 mid-ship and close to the atrium is the best location for me. You've got quick access to the Atrium Bar

Lowest deck midship is where you want to be if you're concerned about bad seas. The higher you go and the farther you move from the midpoint, the more you feel the motion.

 

We hated our forward cabin on the Empress Deck. Give me the Riviera Deck any day!

It doesn't bother me that I might have to walk little bit farther to the atrium, bar, etc. I will have fun walking around lol

 

I wonder if there are secret decks or areas on the fascination.

Glad to hear this, we will be taking our first-ever cruise on the Sensation and have a balcony room mid-ship on the Empress Deck #7 and we are located under the Oak Room Library located on the Atlantic deck above us.

When you say rough was it unbearable when you're walking around outside? I've never taken a Bahamas cruise and I'm hoping the seas will not be so rough that way I can actually enjoy the entire cruise. If you have some photos of your cruise you should post them I'd love to see them

Just noticed on the carnival website that the fascination deck layout for the ship doesn't have anything below deck 4. What's below deck 4? I got deck 5 fkr my room but I was thinking if I czll carnival and get my room on deck 4 then it would be Better for me if the seas are rough. It's only 1 deck difference but it wouldn't matter would it??

We were on the same cruise :) we were midship deck 6 and felt it rocking as well, but nothing that made me sick.

 

We had up to 40 mph winds one night. As a side note, this is the first time I have gotten off the ship and don't feel myself still swaying.

40 mph winds sounds fun and we'll dangerous at the same time. Lol.

 

I kind of have a feeling the bahamas cruises does get more high winds and storms since it's close tk the Atlantic compared to a western csrribbean that goes behind cube (I think it's cuba..) and has calm seas. Im my hoping this September is good for me! Fingers crossed

I love the Fantasy Class for it's size. Fascination was my first ship and I will always love her for that. however. I prefer Upper deck because the GS balconies are the best and most private at sea. I have experience with U6, U70, U75 and E102 on Fascination and Have to say that U70 was probably my favorite though I do want to try U76.

 

U6 - My first room, Had cousins in U70 on this trip, Great for sleeping in and all in all I loved the quiet location. Well, quiet except for the arguing couple in U14. Apparently the fake window in the inside cabins allow for less insulation and a lot more noise to transfer through the walls.

 

U70 - Great suite, only issue is that it has an adjoining OV cabin (U68) and counter space is lost due to the adjoining door, I also had the same experience as cousins who'd cruised the same suite in hearing too much of what was going on in that adjoining room. Fantastic location in reference to stairs and elevators.

 

U75- I've discovered that I hate the starboard side and never wanted to spend any time in this room.

 

E102 - Location wasn't that bad. Balcony was miserably small and I was glad I was cruising solo, two people out there would have been cramped. Also the welded on balconies are are less private, but still leaps and bounds better than on on newer ships where the connecting balcony doors allow the neighbors children to look through cracks. and looking forward or aft results in an endless line of balconies making you feel more like you're at some generic hotel than a ship.

 

For your balcony money though, spring for a GS on Fantasy class or a Cove Balcony on a Dream class. Yes the lifeboats are above you in a Cove, but it also helps with the sun and keeps the cabin cooler.
