Miami Hotels??

My family and I are flying into Fort Lauderdale on Thursday we need to find transportation to a Miami hotel. Any suggestions on a Miami hotel that offers complimentary breakfast and shuttle service to the port? Is there a hotel also near some sight seeing near by?

Only a few of the budget places out near the MIA airport offer free port shuttles, but a taxi from downtown Miami hotels to the port of Miami should only cost about $12+.

 

Look for hotels in the Mary Brickell area (Hampton Inn - free breakfast! - and others) or near Bayside Market - Holiday Inn, Intercontinental, etc. A few hotels offer some rooms with views of the port - check out the Doubletree and next door Marriott.

 

Or stay in South Beach - the area of Miami Beach that is the "Miami" you see in the movies and on TV. Great dining, nightlife, beach, etc. Taxi to the port from SB hotels will run about $15-20.

 

Depending upon the time of day you arrive, shuttle service to Miami/Miami Beach should be available from SAS, QLS, Go Airport and others. A taxi on the 40-45+ minute trip will cost about $75+ - not bad if there are 4 or more travelling together. Private car service is available from Go Airport, Larry's Limos and others.

Your other option is to stay in the FLL area and then shuttle to POM for your cruise the next day. Generally hotels in the FLL area are cheaper than comparable properties in Miami/Miami Beach and IMHO the FLL area is more family friendly. It's your call. :cool:

Don't look for a hotel with a shuttle. You'll end up in a crappy area near nothing.

 

I also like the Courtyard Marriott Coconut Grove.
