WHat are the best ways to keep in touch with a large group with cabins scattered about the ship. Also if anyone knows how Verizon works ,...can we put our phones in airplane mode and use text messaging without over charges? Any info appreciated. Thank you in advance!

splendor has the 'old' internet plans and does not have hub app, so you're choices are going to be pretty much the same as they have been in the past... post it notes are good for leaving notes, as could be a white board (but people may erase messages, or leave their own!)... also you can call between staterooms.

no, you won't be able to put it in airplane mode and communicate. on ships with the new internet packages like the social media plan, you could get that and use imessage or similar apps, but that doesn't really work with the by-minute plans. on breeze you could use the carnival hub app for $5 per device, but that also isn't on splendor yet.

This is what you do...you make tentative plans at dinner nightly for the next day...that way, everyone will know where everyone else will probably be. You can find each other easily! Or, leave messages on the cabin phone...you can call from cabin to cabin.

Since about 95% of the ship is cabin space, you won't need to be searching those hallways! Once you know where everyone is likely to be, it won't be hard to locate them.

Does anyone know if the Pride has the updated Hub system as they were dry docked last October?

pride has the new internet, but not the hub app. currently hub app is only on carnival breeze. john heald had said sunshine would be next up for hub app, but he did not state a time frame as to when.

One thing that we have found works for our group is on the first day we find an area in the Lido that we all like. We plan on sitting in that area or as close to it as possible if we are eating at the buffet. That way if someone is looking for us they know where to start. We also have an area or bar that we congregate at if we are having a drink or just people watching. If we are looking for others in our group, we walk by those areas to see if we can find them. That plus sticky notes that we put in our mail slot. If someone wants to be found it is not that hard to find them. If you don't want to be found, just stay away from those areas.

You can place your phones on wifi and use the Carnival free website. Walkie talkies are also an option but planning meeting times is the best way.

Is there a charge to use Carnival's wifi??

Great advice already given, just wanted to add a few we do when traveling with a large group.

1) make copies of the deck plans with each cabin in our group highlighted. Find one online that is more detailed than the one they give you when you board

2) create a list of who is staying where

3) make matching door signs for everyone, we find this the simplest. It's easy to remember the grandparents are on deck 6 with the same blue sign as everyone else. This lessens confusion such as "Was it cabin 614 for 641?"

4) whiteboards and post it notes
