bottle of wine from room service

I know that each person can bring one bottle of wine on board with them. And I know that bottles of wine can be purchased ahead of time from the fun shops. However, hubby and I have an on board credit and I am wondering if we can purchase a bottle of wine from room service?

Though I've never purchased a bottle from room service I have purchased ones in the MDR or from the casino bar with the express purpose of drinking it in my cabin (out on the balcony). All I do is request of my steward in the morning that the ice bucket is to be kept full and when ready I purchase the bottle, have the crew open it (sometimes having 1 glass then & there) and bring the bottle back to my cabin.

In the past DH has purchased bottles from the Formalities shop for in cabin delivery but as the ships get the 2.0 upgrades they seem to phasing this out in favor of the Shake Spot or Cherry on Top sweets shops.

We purchase one (or more) of the wine packages and generally order a bottle with dinner, but on our last cruise we wanted wine in our cabin and went to the atrium bar. They didn't have the bottle we wanted and sent us to the casino bar to get it. No problem at all. Also got glasses there.

Love the search forum tool on CC. You answered all my wine purchasing questions! I was worried I might "pre-purchase" too much wine and now I know I can just order a bottle on the ship for the same price as pre-purchase if I run out! Thank you! (P.S. I do realize that the statement "too much wine" is bit of an oxymoron!
