New Captains Club Benefit with MGM Resorts

Mic - I do have to say that this really looks too good to be true.

The proof , as they say, will be in the pudding.

I'm waiting for someone to report they actually received these benefits.

So....here goes!! I actually have had a very positive outcome in enjoying benefits of this program! I asked how long they would continue it and she told me, 'indefinitely'. So, could be for a number of years or they could cancel it at any time.

I didn't read this thread when it first came out....wish I had but now I know, there are really fantastic benefits.

The only vacations we really seem to take are to Vegas and on cruises, thus, we have earned both our Gold status through M-life and our Elite status on Celebrity.

We sailed earlier this month on Celebrity and linked our M-life number to our reservation, followed by introducing ourselves to the casino host while onboard. The benefit is huge ... we were sent a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to our room, were given some free drink vouchers to use while playing in the casino, the 5% fee for taking out money against our onboard credit was waived and a specialty dinner for 2 was provided to us at the SS Constitution. Sweet!!!!!

We also booked another cruise while onboard and kept our reservation with Celebrity rather than transferring it to a TA. When I got home from this cruise, I read into this a little further, called the number provided and told them about my M-life status. I was able to secure a very sizeable discount for the cruise I booked onboard. If I had transferred it to a TA, sounds like it would not have worked.

We are also visiting Vegas soon and usually stay down on the Mandalay Bay end of the strip (Delano is our favorite). When calling them to find out about the room rate discount using our elite status on Celebrity and any additional benefits, she told me it was basically the same rate as the M-life gold status ... so they don't combine offers here. She stated I needed to go to the left side of the desk to VIP check in for any additional perks that may be added to our stay. I am thinking it is only what is provided by having our current M-life status with them as it is...but will report back later if I find out it is anything more.

I did find that having the Gold M-life status has actually provided a lot more benefits for Celebrity than vice versa....but that is only because we already had earned our the status through M-life by gambling in Vegas.

Oh ... one more thing, I am pretty sure we actually earned either tier credits or express comps that were applied to our M-life account while gambling on our cruise -- it wasn't both, it was one or the other. If I would have paid more attention to this when it first came out, I would have better detail for you on this point. It does appear our express comps did go up a bit when checking my account but wasn't paying attention to the exact levels before we cruised.

I understand that higher levels with M-life, earned by gambling at M-life casinos (not granted by your M-life status being elevated through your Celebrity status) can actually provide you free cruises on Celebrity. We will never get to that status but friends of ours that gamble almost exclusively at Caesar's properties go on free cruises on Norwegian a few times a year...so know it works.

With all that being said, there were a number of Blue Chip Club gamblers on our cruise. It you are already in a gambling group while sailing, the M-life benefits were not combinable. The Blue Chip members were provided all free drinks but not the specialty dinner...but someone mentioned that the casino host does have the ability to comp certain things to passengers dependent on their play.

While we are more than happy with these new benefits through the M-life / Celebrity association, our friends, as mentioned, do not belong to M-life. As mentioned, they gamble almost exclusively at Harrahs / Caesars properties as well as on cruises. Does anyone out there have any information on how to achieve Blue Chip status on Celebrity? I would love to pass this information along to them if so. I was actually conducting a search on this when I ended up finding this thread.....

Several paragraphs later, I got around to asking the question. :D

No - Here is the small print -

"Guests must have earned M life tier through spend with MGM Resorts International. Guests qualifying for MGM tier based on partnership tier match are excluded from the benefits above."

That is the dinner and other goodies. You do get the goodies from MGM on their side

Very true! The only way to realize the benefits is if you earn your M-life status independently and not as an award from another program such as the Captain's Club.

Does anyone know do you have to Book directly with an MGM resort, or can you make the booking elsewhere then call the M-life number and add your Captains Club number to the reservation?

Thanks,

Jen

Hello all,

Just off a Reflection Med. cruise. Before we left, we printed our Gold status from the M life website. We have not been to Vegas in years, nor do we gamble very much on cruises ($20 here and there on the slots). We have Gold status because my husband has a United airlines presidents club credit card-not sure of the exact name. Anyway, one of the perks is Gold status with M life.

Of course I forgot to bring the print-out, but we had our M-life numbers. I asked to speak to the casino host and she very nicely went to the back, checked something, (I have no idea), and came out with an envelope. The envelope contained a letter with perks as follows:

One specialty dinner

Waived 5% fee on withdrawals

5 drink coupons at casino bar

Increased point accumulation when playing (can't remember bonus %)

Just letting you know the perks and that they can be available even if you don't gamble at MGM very often.

HTH,

Just off the Solstice. We have earned our Elite Plus on X and platinum with M Life separately. We did receive a letter in our cabin. We did not receive any benefits except free drinks in casino and 5% fee waived. I did not ask for more as we were only in the casino one night and did not play much.
