9876 Posted June 30, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2015 What is the typical debarkation window of time for Windstar ships? We are scheduled to dock at 7:00am. Thanks!
Ski Mom 2 Posted June 30, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2015 On our Panama Canal cruise we docked by maybe 6:00 am in Costa Rica and we were the last people off the ship and I think we walked down somewhere between 8:30-9:00 am. It takes awhile for the ship to get processed but I would say they'll have you off before 9:30 maybe?

milepig Posted June 30, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 30, 2015 Are you hoping to get off ASAP or to linger over breakfast and enjoy the ship as long as you can? If the former, WS disembarks by groups, usually early flights, later flights, [ship tours timed to meet the departure, this can shift] etc., and independent travelers last. If you want an early time talk to the front desk a day or two before and I'm sure they'll put you in the first group. You could just get off earlier than your group, but the bags are taken off in groups so you don't want to get off only to wait for your luggage on the dock! They'll also be able to tell you what time they expect the first group to be allowed off. If you want to stay later just ask them the previous day when they want everyone off. mominhouston Posted June 30, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 30, 2015 Yes they categorize depending on your plans. We were on our own as we hired a car so we exited at 8:30am. Think they want all off by about 8:45. however this may be different is each destination. We were in Rome.
9876 Posted June 30, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted June 30, 2015 I would prefer to linger as possible but I certainly understand they have to turn over the ship. We are going into Colon. While we have a long drive to the airport our flight will not leave until 7.00pm. I am looking at a tour and then airport drop off but it still is a lot of time. Thanks again for your feedback. RAYSAN11 Posted June 30, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 30, 2015 2 years ago, on wind star we did the Puerto Caldera to Colon and then on Bermuda where we disembarked. In Colon we did a shore excursion that went to one of lock observatories and then on to a tour of Panama City. It then dropped of people at the airport and hotels. We then stayed on the coach back to the ship. I am not sure what time we got to the airport but I think it was early afternoon. This could be useful for you

Do some checking around the internet for ship to Colon airport tours. We did something similar in Mumbai this April and located some who picked us up at the ship, toured us around town for the day and then dropped us at our airport hotel that evening. (We had an early flight the next morning, but it would have worked just the same if our flight had been that same evening.) They timed the pickup for the ship's arrival time and planned the entire day. They arrived in a minivan that easily stored our luggage, and in addition to the guide there was a driver who stayed with the van while we were doing various things. Perfect.
