**New** Current list of Cruise Directors (CD)

On some ships, a regular CD is assigned for up to 3 years. He/she will work approx 4 months on and have a 2 month break. Sometimes the same CD covers the breaks (so 2 months on and 4 months off), and other times, the covering CD varies.

 

On other ships, different CDs are assigned, and the length of their contract is variable.

 

Allure used to have a regular 4 month CD and a regular 2 month fill-in CD, but there was some shuffling around, and no solid regular rotation pattern has emerged.

 

For Allure, my guess (and it is only a guess) is that Dru will be the new 4 month CD, but how the rotation there plays out remains to be seen. That would put him on until the end of December, and off in Jan and Feb.

It's been quite some time since I sailed on the Grandeur, and I'm currently on tap to sail this September 1 to New England and Canada. I see that there may be some question as to whether Paul Rutter will be on board at that time or not. That's to be expected. But can anyone give me the long and short of it? How good of a CD is Paul. As a marker, Abe Hughes is my favorite CD and Ken Rush is my least favorite.

It's been quite some time since I sailed on the Grandeur, and I'm currently on tap to sail this September 1 to New England and Canada. Radiance: Will Steve be returning in September, or will it be someone else? Need exact handover date - Jamie is scheduled to move to another ship pm Sept 19, so it must be before then.

 

Vision: For how long is Mercedes onboard? (end of August, or end of October?) To whom will she be handing over?

 

Voyager: Is Mitch onboard until late-August? To whom will he be handing over?

 

 

We will be on Freedom 8/21 cruise, and I will be on Allure first week of October. I'll post if any news.

He was on Freedom January 24 until May 15, then did an unexpected fill-in on Liberty from mid-June until July 10 when Amy left early. Now he is on break.

Jewel OTS - Simona Ferraiuolo beginning July 3 for the remainder of the European Season (then Dennis Charles returns?)

 

Legend OTS - Chris Brown from June 20 through October 19, then Keith Williams returns to re-position the ship from Hong Kong to Australia on October 19 until Jan 15, 2017. then Chris Brown should be returning Jan 15 to cover Keith's break again.

 

Liberty OTS - Jeff Arpin July 10 until early-November, then John Blair

 

Majesty OTS - Susan McColl July 1 through August 27, then Marc Walker returns Aug 27 to Oct 23

He doesn't even know...lol RCI had a lot of movement of CDs to land jobs, etc, so there is a "shortage" even with the promotion of a few AMs. The schedules aren't as predictable as they usually are.

 

Since you have a reservation, you can email web_reservations@rccl.com, however, their response is often incorrect, but it is better than nothing and it gives us something to work with in trying to figure it out.

Paul gets wonderful feedback on CC, in fact, I cannot recall reading anything negative about him. Have you tried looking for videos of him on youtube?

I'll scratch Liberty off any cruises in the near future.

I don't see him working too well on Liberty. Not only has he proven himself to be extremely annoying and narcissistic, but he also proved himself to be a dud at managing a larger ship.

Yes, that's how I feel about Jimmy Rhodes. He talks too fast, laughs at his own jokes with aren't even funny, extremely annoying, and he's a terrible host. He was horrible on our New Years cruise a few years ago. It was a cold weather cruise, so a lot of people were indoors wandering around with nothing to do, complaining - he should have scheduled more engaging activities. We were on the same ship a few months later with a different CD, and the entertainment/activities were 1000x better (even the same stuff was more enjoyable!). I hope they keep him on Quantum/Ovation and far away from any itineraries I am likely to cruise on. Edited August 7, 2016 by DonnaK

We have really enjoyed Drew Devine on Oasis. But have to admit We ended up on a Carnival cruise a few months back and Ben Lambert was one of the best CD's we've had - would love to see him on Royal

We had Joff on the Ovation in May and I thought he was great. He is very personable and is not worried to get stuck in.

Richard Spacey was excellent, but I have to say my favorite CD is Abe Hughs who's back will be on the Anthem of the Seas in August. I'll be sailing on her in December, I just hope that Abe will still be on at that time.
