Pride of America fridge in staterooms??

By the time they cool it will be time to leave the ship. Get the room steward to fill your champagne container with every day and put the wine in before you go off ship for the day. Tip of course.

Thank you. Great suggestion. However, I would still like the option of putting a bottle of wine in the fridge but your suggestion is a good one. Thanks:)

Don't expect the walk-in cooler type ! LOL

These mini-fridges have room for maybe 8 cans of beverages - or

- 20 minitures of booze - or

- at best 3 750ml bottles of wine - or - 6 325ml bottles

- a dozen of the airline half-pints of water.

With the service and use that these fridges get don't expect much.

Maybe a slight chill of the contents.

When you first check-into your stateroom empty the mini-fridge contents out

and have some agreement with the cabin steward about storage.***

*** No matter what promo perks you have the stuff in the mini-fridge is NOT FREE !

Then turn any thermostats down to the coldest setting and put your

chill-ables in and pray that they will be cold for your consumption later !

As a back up as noted above have the cabin steward fill the champagne

ice bucket frequently. Don't have one request it.

You could also bring along those freeze-able gel paks but then those things

take up usable space and don't work if the mini-fridge is not fully working.

You will know when your fridge is on the fritz when you open the door and

the contents don't exhibit any frost or condensation.

Not certain why people are saying the mini-fridge has problems cooling. Ours on the PoA July 25th-August 1st functioned just fine. We put 8 cans of Dr Pepper in there and had a bottle of sparkling wine (arrival gift we didn't drinkg) and a large bottle of water. No issues other than stacking the cans. Plenty cool enough. The contents of the mini fridge were literally pulled out and placed in a metal drawer under the fridge by our butler the first day while we were talking.

The fridge was small, but we didn't have any problems with it keeping things cool. I don't think it would hold a bottle of wine though. Here's what ours looked like:

Hmm, unable to tell, maybe at an angle but certainly usable for bottled water.

On some of the ships the inside of the mini-fridge door there are racks for miniatures;

375 ml wine bottles; nuts past their prime and those goofy gummy bears thingys !

So the type of mini-fridge will vary by ship - no one size fits all !

The previous post photos shows a much larger mini-fridge than what I

have experienced on the NCL SUN DAWN and STAR.

This is from the Jewel (similar to its sister ships & even for the Dawn) - don't recall checking it for temperature adjustment. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/64025118/NCL%20Cruising%20-%20General/SDC8086.JPG

The shelf is user-removable, 1 liter & 1.5 liter sized soda will stand vertically but 2 liter ones needed to be tilted, taking up lots of room. That's our 20 oz. Rubbermaid BPA-free water bottle, juice from the buffet "chilling".

We also store the small (white in color - bottom of picture) ice bucket filled with ice inside the cooler box overnight - the shelf has to be removed to fit. These mini-frig are "bigger" than those on the *Away class in comparison (with temp control) Was told that they will cool down to about 40 to 45 deg. F at best, borderline safe temperature for keeping milk or meat/cooked food for any "extended" period of time. (couldn't even fit the plate with 4 chocolate-covered strawberries) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/64025118/2015%20NCL%20BA/IMG20150322_2054%20%281024x768%29.jpg
