lovetosew Posted September 16, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2015 Has anyone ever rented a womens outfit from the Princess Cruiseline Formal wear rental web site and what quality was it and how did it fit. Would be interested to know. I am an average Misses size 10/
cb at sea Posted September 17, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 17, 2015 I can assure you it will be cheaper to purchase something, than to rent it!
zoncom Posted September 17, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 17, 2015 Go to the most upscale consignment/ resale shops in your area. You should be able to get better quality wear at half the price and you get to keep outfit(s). The online outfits look pretty basic.
mousey Posted September 18, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 18, 2015 Unless it's because you don't want to pack and bring formal wear with you. I too suggest you buy something new. Consignment shops are great as another poster mentioned and you can get some nice things inexpensively at TJ Maxx. Whatever you decide to do...I hope you have an amazing cruise!:D
lovetosew Posted September 18, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted September 18, 2015 Thanks for all of your suggestions. It was just the skirt that I was curious about. DH was going to rent the tux and I thought that I may rent a black velvet long skirt just because I did not want to pack my own. I do my own sewing and certainly have enough to chose from in my own closet from past cruises but in this day and age every piece takes up precious space; so is the skirt lined, does the it drag or is it above ankle length and what is the quality of the fabric used. I am a fan of Chico's clothing line and have my own vintage boucle top with rhinestones from the 50's that I always take to wear; plus I have a stretch velvet sheath that I always take. This trip will be on the Star Princess around the Cape next Feb and am so excited to finally see the end of the world.
iheartbda Posted September 19, 2015 #6 Share Posted September 19, 2015 Maybe in this situation it may be a good idea to ask on the Princess board. Explain that you already asked on the Fashion Board but you're not getting any responses that help. There might be someone there that has rented but never posts here. When you sew, our clothing fits us better. There is a sewing thread to share you sewing projects. I am also a sewer too. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1665834
siuc78 Posted September 25, 2015 #8 Share Posted September 25, 2015 I looked on the link to the formal wear rental site and I don't think you can rent women's clothes anymore.
S&D Posted September 25, 2015 #9 Share Posted September 25, 2015 I would think with ebay and the great online shops nowadays, you would be able to purchase things at a very reasonable price compared to renting them..good luck! I couldn't see any rentals on the Princess site either. S&D
