Wave61 Posted September 27, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2015 Planning on just getting off the ship and walking to Junkanoo beach. Perhaps a bit of shopping on the way. Do you wear your bathing suit and cover up or wear your suit under your clothes?

OCruisers Posted September 27, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 27, 2015 A bathing suit with a knee length cover-up works for me. :)
tikib Posted September 27, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 27, 2015 Keep in mind that the Bahamas is a very religious country. People who work downtown should be respected. You will see all kinds of attire, from barely bikinis to guys bare chested, but the tourist board asks that you cover up. A cover up that you can't see thru would be fine, as are shorts and tanks etc. Just have respect for those who's country you are visiting and you'll be fine. Men can wear board shorts and a tank or tee. (not a speedo)

Do you wear your bathing suit and cover up or wear your suit under your clothes? Where is Junkanoo beach? How far of a walk from the cruise ships and in which direction? bm6pm5 Posted September 29, 2015 #7 Share Posted September 29, 2015 Go out the gates and turn right. Follow the road next to the water past Senor Frogs and the colonial Hilton. It will be on the left. If you use google earth put it in your search. It will come up.
Armedaneian Posted September 30, 2015 #8 Share Posted September 30, 2015 It will be on the left. The beach is to the right and on the right.
karena1 Posted October 1, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 1, 2015 Planning on just getting off the ship and walking to Junkanoo beach. Perhaps a bit of shopping on the way. Do you wear your bathing suit and cover up or wear your suit under your clothes? We have been going to Nassau for years. We also walk to Junkanoo and have shopped downtown. I always wear my swim suit with a gauzy coverup skirt and spaghetti strap top and had never had any issues. No different than wearing shorts/top and walking around. Also see lots of women with swim suits and like the tshirt type dresses over them. So anything like that works. You do not need to wear regular clothes, just a non see through coverup
colleenod Posted October 7, 2015 #10 Share Posted October 7, 2015 How is Junkaroo beach? Is it near the straw market? I'd like to go to the straw market and a beach but I am so lost on how to do it!
