bitzy Posted October 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2015 I know, silly question. If facing the bridge, which side is which?
SadieN Posted October 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 2, 2015 (edited) Left is port is even (cabin numbers) Also the words left, port , even have four letters. Right is starboard is odd. The words right, starboard, odd have an odd number of letters. Edited October 2, 2015 by SadieN
PortSideCruzan Posted October 2, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 2, 2015 Hi Bitzy :) Port side is the left side of the ship. Starboard is right. Have a terrific day! :)
browns3030 Posted October 2, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 2, 2015 If you are on the ship, facing the front (bow), then Port is left. My dad always taught me... Port- left - 4 letters each. Right is Starboard side.

Staceman225 Posted October 2, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 2, 2015 Put your hands in front of you and make two circles, like a kid making pretend binoculars. Which one looks like a "P"? The left one...

ldlewis45 Posted October 3, 2015 #14 Share Posted October 3, 2015 The way I was taught as a child was by doing the alphabet. Alphabetically, port comes before starboard, just like left comes before right. If you're on the ship, facing the front of the ship (also known as the stern), port is on the left and starboard is on the right. All you have to do is remember where you are located in reference to the stern.
