Free Children's UDP Old Vs. new offer

We booked fairly recently for our upcoming Escape cruise. However, the other family we are traveling with booked almost a year ago. We chose the dining package as they did.

With all the changes from the original free dining pkg. to the more current offer regarding kids, does anyone know the difference?

I think the recent changes to the UDP is on a 7 day cruise you only get 3 or 4 meals at a specialty restaurant.

The kids (if they are the 3rd and 4th in the cabin) will have to pay full price unless they order from the kids menu. You can also buy them a dining package depending where you go, you might save $20-30.

Hope that helps.

Depending on when they booked they may have gotten the UDP for all 4 of them. The current promos only give the promo to Passenger 1 and 2.

The current program SDP is based on specialty meals. The current promo for a 7 day cruise is 4 meals. One a night (like most people eat) and you have 4 nights covered for guest #1 and #2. If the kids are coming along you will need to purchase them a SDP also or pay the list price.

The UDP has no limits on how many dinners you can eat. Some people say they get dinner 1 at 5:00 and then Dinner 2 at 9:30.

The UDP is being phased out guess lots of people ate 2 dinners a night, who knew. Its replacement is the SDP and you get to pick how many nights you buy it for.

If the kids are young and they eat the normal kid fare, spaghetti, chicken fingers, Hamburger and the like, they can order off the kids menu for free. But if the kids have moved past the chicken fingers stage and will want real food you will either have to buy them a package, pay the cover charge or pay for the a la carte items they purchase.

Since Escape has not sailed yet we don't know any A la carte pricing. Lots of us with kid are waiting to see if the costs of what our kids will order comes in over or under the $20 mark. Since SPD costs about $20 a meal. Example my DS orders a starter a main course and a desert at most places.

Yes dinning has defiantly gotten complicated

On our amenities confirmation, ours say Ultimate Dining Package with the code DINPKG next to both adults and

Child's dining package with the code DINCHL next to both children.

This was when the UDP was for everyone in the cabin, so we should be able to have the kids eat off the adult menus for free in any of the venues covered.

And get the 25% off at those other venue's not included.

supposedly we should not be charged 18% either...we will see.

the new package would not have gotten us to book, FWIW. Neither would the current cruie fares.

On our cruise a basic inside is going for the M6 mini suite we booked. no thanks.
