gay head Posted October 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2015 My mother and sister are going on the Magic out of Galveston Sunday on the Caymen , Jamaica cruise, My mother is 86 and cannot walk very far so they are taking a wheelchair. What things can she do on the ship that do not require a lot of mobility besides sit in front of the slot machines.I have been on the ship twice and I saw people in chairs. What about in Grand Cayman? They have faster to the fun.
cb at sea Posted October 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) GC might be a problem, depending on how rough it is....tendering isn't easy if she can't walk some.... There is shopping right across from the tender dock...GC is a nice, clean place. There are lots of things besides the casino!!! There's bingo, reading, people watching (always a zoo experience!), art auctions, shows, etc.... Edited October 29, 2015 by cb at sea
Rala Posted October 29, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 29, 2015 On some ships there are also cooking and other types of demonstrations, jewelry making, trivia, pool games (for her to watch). Just check the daily roster (should be delivered to your stateroom each evening for the following day). All the activities will be listed and she can plan her day accordingly. :)
summersigh Posted October 29, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2015 There are also lots of places to sit/people watch/ocean watch on ships out on deck both in the sun and shade. You don't need to order drinks or get food to occupy those seats.
sunshine002 Posted October 29, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 29, 2015 My Mom is also having walking issues, she will be 90 this spring. On our upcoming cruise my Mom is renting a scooter. There is lots to do on the ship, from listening to music to playing trivia. Or just sitting outside and reading a book. If she plays cards there might be a card game she can join. Have a great cruise.
