Where does the Nautica dock in Dublin?

We will be aboard the Nautica next July and have a port stop in Dublin. Where exactly does she dock? We want to go to the Guinness brewery and the Book of Kells at Trinity College and would like to figure how transportation logistics. We do not want a tour as we are interested in doing these independently.

Thanks.

Hi Pearl,

Nautica docks a few miles from the central city. Free shuttle buses run continually and you will be dropped off a couple blocks from Trinity college. It is super easy to do the Book of Kells and a guided walking tour of the college. Temple bar area is a ten minute walk from Trinity.

I've been by the Guinness area from a HOHO bus, which is always a good option to take a quick look at a city. Not sure how far from the college.

Pearl, in June '06 we shared a cab with another passenger and were dropped off close at the Tourist Bureau where we bought our tickets for the HOHO bus. We skipped the Kells (the lines were incredible) but went to the Chester Beatty Library nearby that had been recommended to us. Very easy to do on your own.

They DID have shuttle buses into town when we were there but the problem was the timing. The "half day" tour was more like 3 hours, the "full day" tour more like 5 or so. It was easy enough to do it by cab. (Back then the fare into town was £12, divided by three. The return fare was £10.

We were there last summer and the port was running shuttle buses on a frequent basis. I believe every half hour or so.

If you want to see the Book of Kells You have to do a tour that includes quick access or the line to get in can be hours long. Same with the rooms in Dublin Castle.

My advice, enjoy other sights, there are plenty.
