Breakaway 14 Day Southern Caribbean Review with lots of pictures (and the Haven)

We are generally friendly people and while waiting in the Haven waiting room we met a newlywed couple that was really nice and also a family that Melissa just gravitated to. They had a one year old and a four year old daughter. We didn't know it at the time, but they would be the people we would spend most of our time with on the cruise.

So after around an hour of chit-chat, we heard the sweet sound of "OK Ladies and Gentlemen, please line up in an orderly fashion as we will be boarding the ship shortly. We will be escorting you on the ship and up to deck 16 to the Haven lounge for a quick orientation and then you are welcome to have lunch in the Haven restaurant." Whoo hoo!! Here we go! Let this vacation begin!!

Up the gangway, the red carpet leads you onto the ship past balloons and happy crew welcoming you to your home away from home for the next 2 weeks. We enter the ship on deck 7 and are ushered to the forward elevator banks and into the elevators that go to deck 16. Only 2 of the 8 in the forward bank go all the way up there.

Once on deck 16, we go through the Haven access only doors and to the Haven lounge. There we are offered free drinks and sliders. What a greeting! The Concierge, Anoop, gives us a quick overview of what he does, where things are located, and then tells us that we can drop our carryon bags in our rooms if we want but the rooms are not fully ready yet. We should have lunch in the Haven restaurant first and by then the rooms should be ready. OK then. Lunch it is.

Melissa is very ready to start this vacation.

I am so happy that you are doing that!

The upsell number is ‪1-800-625-4309‬. You should call them when you have less than 2 weeks until your sailing. It doesn't matter if you used a TA when you call for the upsell. Your TA will get the credit.

I know this is completely off topic from your story and your review but what is an upsail fairy and that upsail #?? I guess I have to go back and read more carefully about how this works.

I have already booked a cruise for this summer through Coscto (believe it or not) but I've never used the upsail #. Do they really just give out deals to anyone if you call 2 weeks before sailing??

I am so excited for this review. I will be on the Breakaway 4/3 in the Haven for the 1st time. These pics are making me want to start packing now. Lol

We were originally booked for 4/3 and I probably would have started packing in another week or so too. LOL

I'll try and keep the review coming at a steady rate.

Thank you so much for your review! I am so excited to read more. My sister was just diagnosed with breast cancer in October. We were lucky enough that she only needed to do oral chemotherapy and 4 weeks of radiation. She had a lumpectomy and radiation just finished two weeks ago. Like you we didn't have any history of cancer in our family so it came as quite a surprise to us. We are excited to celebrate being cancer free for her in April on our cruise on the jewel. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It's so important to hear the success stories so that there is hope of recovery for women who suffer from this horrible disease. You have a wonderful story to tell and such a beautiful spirit.

Wow! That's fantastic. It was obviously caught early. Mine too. Enjoy your Jewel cruise. And make sure they know that you are celebrating her health. They just may do a little something for her on the ship.

Following your fabulous review. And so happy to know you are feeling well. We will be on the Breakaway in August in the Haven. What was your room number? The pictures are terrific. And I see from your posting that you live in my home town, although I haven't lived there in many years. Can't wait to read more of your review!

Omg! This is so much fun! Reliving the whole thing as I read! So Great!!! As far as Spa Suites go, we had 14136 and LOVED it!

I have so many pictures, you just may see yourself in them!

I'm really missing my Haven meals and the bar.

And what I wouldn't do right now for the enclosed pool area. Brrr it's cold. And now they are predicting a snowstorm for the weekend. Yikes. I've got my Build-A-Boob surgery at 7:30 Monday morning. I'm hoping it doesn't get postponed.

Build-A-Boob surgery!!!! You're killing me.

I'm in NW New Jersey. Looks like we'll get either 2-5 or 5-8 depending on whether the storm moves a bit further west or not. I'm thinking that on the Island, you should be done by sometime Sunday and hopefully they'll get you plowed out so you can make your appointment. Maybe check in with the surgeon today to see what contingency they have and when they'd notify you if they have to reschedule.

That's how it worked for us. I guess it depends on how many rooms are left.

Great review and story, I can't wait to read more. Have sailed the Breakaway back in 2013 but will be back on in September with the whole family, parents, in-laws, sisters and their husbands and it will be or 2 year olds (will be two in Sept) first cruise.

Sounds like a blast!

More review coming up....

LOL. My mom came up with Build-A-Boob.

As long as the snow stops by Sunday morning, we should be good to go. I have to be at the hospital at 6am and I spoke to them 2 hours ago. They are confident we will be on.

The Master Bathroom....it's huge! Double sinks, a toilet stall, a shower stall, and a tub. Bulgari toiletries on the sink and in the shower. A thick curtain separates the bathroom and master bedroom. There is loads of storage in the bathroom and the towels. Oh the towels. There are so many of them and the bath sheets are huge!

\Thanks for answering my question and thanks for the awesome review I loved all the pictures, esp. the ones about the boat itself like the menus and the dailies - really cool to see.

And I wish you a speedy recovery after your build-a-boob surgery!!
