Barrycat Posted February 22, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2016 According to the Marine Traffic website, the Pride is still motoring off of the coast of Grand Bahama as of this morning, a full two months after the December grounding. The assumption was that the company was going to take the dry docking of the ship to fix the damage as an opportunity to do the planned upgrade of the ship to the other two ships standards. With the planned return of the Pride to service on April 9, that scenario seems ambitious. We sailed on the Pride which could use the upgrade and on the Breeze which was the obvious beneficiary of the upgrade. Does anyone have any insight into this situation? Erica@cruisecritic Posted February 22, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2016 I have been trying to get this info out of Windstar PR with little success. The unofficial word from them is that ship will be back in service sometime in June (sailings have disappeared off the website but they won't confirm for me), but no details beyond that. I'll keep trying!
Barrycat Posted February 22, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted February 22, 2016 Thanks Eric, that makes more sense in terms of timing
dandee2 Posted February 23, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2016 WS will probably do the upgrade the same place they did the other one, in Europe.
kuldalai Posted March 22, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 22, 2016 What is the latest with STAR PRIDE, to be repaired or not . Windstar are being very evasive and silent on what the original PR spin said was a small hole in the hull .
milepig Posted March 22, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 22, 2016 What is the latest with STAR PRIDE, to be repaired or not . Windstar are being very evasive and silent on what the original PR spin said was a small hole in the hull . Tons of updates in the main thread on this - look for the sticky at the top of this board. She's in drydock (or possibly out) being repaired (and possibly having the other scheduled work done, or possibly not...) WS has been totally silent on this. She's still scheduled for an itin on June 9.
KikiKruiser Posted March 24, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 24, 2016 Keeping a close eye on this. We're booked on her for late June and don't want to think of canceling or changing plane tickets!
Barrycat Posted May 7, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted May 7, 2016 According to the Marine Traffic website, the Pride is on the move heading for Algeciris Spain arriving on the 19th. Hopefully this is to complete the refit done so far in Freeport, and ready the ship for the early June scheduled return to service
