If the occasion arises I always comment on the Let us Know cards.

One cruise ( 34 days) I wrote a thank you note after a get together was arranged for NZ cruisers.......HAL provided finger food, bought our own drinks. The concierge reported back to me that the thank you message was a first and another get together would be arranged.

There is a thread on TripAdvisor today titled what really happens to the tips, the link is to a blog from an ex employee who states the HSC is divided up based on the results of the customer satisfaction feedback

Thanks for the heads up on the article. I checked it out. Unfortunately it doesn't say what cruise line it pertains to and since it is a U.K. Blog, I doubt it is Hal.

Interesting. When we were on the Westerdam last year, I sent my thank you cards to the officers that attended our meet and greet. (I always do this on my own cards). I received thank you for my thank you cards! And, at our second meet and greet, all 7 of them came back beaming and had mimosas/bloody Mary's and lovely pastries and cupcakes for us. Totally unexpected and a lovely surprise. Not sure why, but I do know those thank you cards were read ;).
