Cabin Upgrade

Anyone have any idea when Carnival starts making upgrade calls? I noticed quite a few open cabins on our upcoming cruise but no price drops or other offers. Any ideas?

18 cruises with Carnival and received only an upsell offer once, that was on the last cruise at 6 months out. Turned it down, was on a b2b and wanted to keep the same cabin for both cruises.

 

Never received an upgrade offer.

Call the upgrade desk yourself and ask.

Don't know if there is a set time period. We've done 51 Carnival cruises and have never had a free upgrade or paid upsell call and there were open cabins on most of those until shortly before sailing. Guess we're not on the right list.

I got the call 2 weeks before my cruise. Upgraded from a 4A to a 6A for $70 total.

 

There's not an "upgrade desk" per say as I tried calling the same lady the next cruise (she had left a message with her name and number since I missed the initial call and I called right back). She was unable to help me as she wasn't assigned to that sailing and she didn't know who was. It was worth a shot.
