My Diary: Vision B2B ~ Feb. 27th & Mar. 5th

Happy Leap Day!

Up early and got my coffee. Had a nice chat with some folks in the CL this morning. They had been cruising for 40 years or so and hadn't ever booked anything but ship's excursions. I was amazed. They picked my brain a little bit and just couldn't believe there were other things out there to do!!

It was a beautiful day. Warm with no humidity. This is a beautiful little port called Coxen Hole. There are a few shops here and a nice little bar serving good drinks. They even have a new zip line that goes over the harbor. That looked like fun.

Today we booked a beach day through Island Marketing. We did this the last time we were here and it was great, so we thought we would do it again. Getting off the ship proved challenging today as we docked at 10:00 and everybody wanted to get off at the same time! The gangway was on deck one and when our elevator got there, we were rudely told that we needed to go back up to deck 4 and walk down. This guy was apparently having a tough day with some of the passengers and the situation. Sooooooo we go back up to deck 4 to find out that the end of the line to get off the ship was on Deck 6 in the casino!! I went up to get at the end of the line while John waited for me on a lower deck. We finally made it off the ship, then out of the gates to find our driver. This really took some time and time away from our beach time.

The van picked us up right there on the street and other passengers were already in there. They were on some type of tour but they were going to drop us off at our resort that was along the way. BUT we had to endure the first part of this tour until we got to the resort. Well......this was annoying. I guess we were the only ones doing the beach trip today so this was how we had to go. I was a little annoyed, but we finally got to our beach and were dropped off.

The name of the resort is Fantasy Island. It is an old, but well kept resort. The cost was $38pp. We got all set up under a palapa and found out that the Wi-Fi there was very good. We proceeded to have a very relaxing day, even though we got off to a late start. We also noticed that we were the only ones here (practically).

This is a fabulous place. There is even a peacock that walks around. The water is crystal clear and there is a very nice pool.

I ordered some hamburgers for lunch and they were pretty good as far as beach hamburgers go. We swam a little and just enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. It was an absolutely wonderful day!!!

We had arranged with the driver to pick us up at 3 o'clock and she was there right on time. You have to drive over this little bridge to get to and from this resort.

It took us 30 minutes to drive back to the ship.....no tour this time. They were aware of our annoyance about the morning tour thing, so I think when we come back next week......we'll have our own driver to get us out to the beach without the tour.

Once back on the ship, we had plenty of time to rest for a while before going out for the evening. We had a nice time in the practically empty CL again. We met up with Norm and Karen again and enjoyed talking with them. John was talking about his time in Viet Nam with Norm and a lady overheard him. When she left, she came over to John and wanted to shake his hand and thank him for his service. That was very nice. For those of you old enough to know what it was like in those days.......you know that that didn't happen very often back then. We really appreciated her gesture.

We got to visit a bit with Franca and Bill for a bit before we went to dinner.

Dinner was once again in the Windjammer. Many more people were there this evening. We both found a little something to our liking and were able to eat very quickly. We found ourselves in the casino after dinner. I still can't find ay machines that make any sense to me, but I manage to win just a little tonight. We were soon back in the cabin retiring very early tonight.

Oh......we received our beach towel amenity today. We have a room full of these at home.......anybody want one!?

I've never received a towel? I'm guessing this is a D+ perk? Just 20 more C&A points and I'm there.

Yes, one of the choices you will have, in addtion to wine, tote bag, soda, etc.

Yes, it is. We get two every cruise!! John won't let me change it to something else. We also get two of the nice tote bags every cruise and a six pack of diet coke.

Tuesday ~ March 1, 2016 ~ Belize

Coffee in the CL.....breakfast in the dining room.....excellent once again.

We stayed on board today. Just like to get a day of rest every now and then without the crowds on board. I do not advocate skipping ports. Belize is wonderful......so many neat and active things to do. But I love to sit in a quiet spot and read and that is so easy to do just about anywhere when everyone else is off the ship.

Belize is a tender port and here they go:

I went to the Solarium and hung out for a while, but it got really hot in there and I kept falling asleep. (First world problems!)

We were just lazy bums all day. Before we knew it, it was time to head to the CL. Great conversation tonight. Always fun to connect with people in the CL.

Dinner was in Chops again tonight. I ordered things that I don't usually order. Tonight I had the shrimp cocktail for an appetizer and the fish entrée. They were both very good except for the amount of salt that they put on everything. I am going to have to address that before we come back. I don't know why they think they have to pour salt all over everything!! We had cheesecake again and they also brought us a piece of the mud pie to try. (Some of you may remember my issues with the mud pie.) They swore to me that it was better. And it was! Still not like the mud pie of old, though!

I know.....right? And these weren't the only folks we met like that. It seemed that every time we initiated a conversation with someone.....at breakfast, or wherever......they never had a clue of what to do. I have never run into so many people who were like this. It was just amazing to me. It's like they don't know how to use the internet or are too paranoid to think outside the box. Many people didn't do anything but just walk off the ship and walk right back on. SMH
