How do you book B2B?

Hey peeps!

 

Just curious, haven't even sailed on our upcoming cruise yet and am already thinking about how I would book a B2B one! :rolleyes:

Do you book to stay on the same ship or do you guys swap over onto another?

Are there discounts if you do book B2B?

If you do stay on the same ship, do you still have to pack up and disembark?

 

Reason I'm asking, is we normally do 2+ week vacations (just think 1 week is not enough) and some 10+ day cruises they have offered, it's cheaper to do two cruises back to back.. (ie one eastern carribean, one western or southern, etc). what is the most cost effective way to do one?

We like to stay on the same ship in the same stateroom it at all possible. That way you don't have to pack between cruises.

There are no discounts for consecutive cruises; they are considered separate cruises. A true B2B is on the same ship - a S2S (side to side) is when you change ships. If you are looking into it, a B2B suits us better as we don't have to "move". :D

 

You look for itineraries that are consecutive on the same ship, see if the same cabin is available, and book them. Some fun itineraries include a repositioning cruise and the one directly before or after it - fun!

In the United States, they take you off briefly as a group to run through Customs and Immigration and get a "zero count" on board, then they lead you directly back on. Takes anywhere from 15 minutes (normal) to a while (if there is a delay).

 

You leave all of your things on board, carrying just your passport and SeaPass cards and your customs declaration form.

 

If you stay in the same cabin, it's great. If you can't book the same cabin for both, your cabin steward will move your stuff. Hanging stuff stays on hangers, you throw everything else back into your suitcases.

You're welcome, and prepare to be spoiled with the B2B. Depending on the ship and how many B2B guests they have, they might offer a special B2B luncheon on changeover day.

We have seen cases where two cruises can be booked as a single cruise and the price is different than the sum of the two. And sometimes it is actually higher.

 

You don't have to stay in the same cabin. If you don't, you just pack all the stuff in drawers/shelves into your suitcases and leave in the closet with the stuff on hangers. Room stewards move the stuff for you.

 

Agree with Bob - B2B spoils you as well as saves the cost of an extra flight. Many ships alternate routes between cruises, so you may very well get different ports on the second cruise. If you really want variety, try a B2B out of San Juan.

Vancouver, so we are allowed to stay on the ship being a foreign port. ;)
