reerun25 Posted April 29, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2016 In the FAQ's for the port in Charleston it says that a photo ID in the form of a government-issued document is required for all passengers. That only applies to 18 year old and older correct?
Rare dctravel Posted April 30, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 30, 2016 In general, all passengers need some form of ID. This can be a passport or a birth certificate. A DL alone is not normally sufficient to board the ship. For this under driving age, my experience is that the passport or birth certificate is normally enough (we got passports for our kids). njhorseman Posted May 1, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2016 If a birth certificate is being used as proof of citizenship for a person taking a closed loop cruise it will also be necessary to present a government-issued photo ID for anyone age 16 and older. sandkps Posted May 6, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2016 We've sailed out of Charleston a few times now. My husband and I take our birth certificates and DLs, for our children (all below driving age) we just take their birth certificates. Never had any problems with this. WendyVF Posted May 6, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 6, 2016 I like to be on the safe side, so when our kids were young, we just took them to the DMV and got an photo ID card. It's relatively cheap. Before they had passports, they sailed with that and their birth certificate.
