Here is my plan for my upcoming vacation, please give advice if you think its too much to cram in or if I could add more. Never been to this area of the world so not really sure of distance and cost.

12/3 Fly from Orlando to Singapore stay overnight in airport hotel

12/5 fly to siem Reap the next day

12/8 fly back to Singapore stay overnight in city

12/9 Board ship full day in singapore

12/10 full day in port depart 5pm on cruise

12/12 arrive in Laem Chabang 1pm travel to Bangkok stay overnight

12/13 return to ship late afternoon.

12/14 Day at elephant sanctuary Pattaya ship departs 6pm

Have no plans for other ports yet

12/20 Arrive Hong kong day of sightseeing

12/21 leave ship check into hotel for 3 nights see the city

12/23 Possibly go to halong bay for Junk tour or to the beach. Other possibility is to fly to Japan for a few days or some other area on the way back to the US but not china as not wanting to go there this trip.

12/27 return to US

We want to experience as much as we can but at a leisurely pace any advice

from seasoned travellers to this area would be most welcome.

Nothing except the cruise is booked as yet so can change plans easily.

Not sure if I've read it correctly. Your cruise sailing from Singapore to Hong Kong do not stop at Vietnam/Halong Bay? Not sure why you would want to back track to that area from Hong Kong after the cruise? From HK, if you want to visit some place else, Japan would be a good stop before heading back to the US. JMHO.

If it were me I would plan an extra day in Siem Reap.

IE: Fly in on the 4th Dec.

You will probably buy a 3 day pass anyway, they don't sell 2 day passes.

It is very crowded and becomes hot during the day.

If you are all "templed out" on that 3rd day it is still a very interesting area.

Overall you will feel less rushed and able to linger longer at some sites.

Accommodation, eating and drinking is not expensive in Siem Reap.

Totally agree! And remember that it mostly rains in the afternoons so there are not a lot of people at the temples then!

To stay in Singapore is very expensive and I would spend more days in Siem Reap so as not to spend lots of $$ on Singapore hotels, as well as gives you a slower pace to have a good look and relax.

When you can get a great hotel in Siem Reap for about $50 - 70 per night and draft cold beer for 50 cents a pot (Singapore will be from around $10 up) I would stay at Siem Reap - it is a great little city for a few days.
