Rare chefestelle Posted June 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2016 Hi everyone. I'm looking for things to do in St. John's. Has anyone been there? What is a must see? Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
Schoifmom Posted June 14, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2016 Are you going to St. John's, Newfoundland or Saint John, New Brunswick?
Jolie_Cruiser Posted June 14, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 14, 2016 OP did mention in her post (title) "St John's, Newfoundland"...
maryann ns Posted June 14, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 14, 2016 (edited) The OP, chefestelle, clearly said Newfoundland. Walking around the port is interesting. You can also go to Signal Hill. If you go back to the Port of Call page for Canada: you can use the search feature at the top of the page. Look to the right on the blue bar. Put in St. John's. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20 Be aware that most of the results will be for Saint John, New Brunswick incorrectly spelled. Rare chefestelle Posted June 14, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted June 14, 2016 Thanks Maryann ns and Jolie_Cruiser. I definitely meant St. John's, Nfld. I did check the ports of call and came up with not one thing that talked about anything other than the fact that it isn't Saint John. I have also reviewed the tourism sites referred to above already. What I was hoping for were some insights from CCers who have been there. I do appreciate the tripadvisor comments but the reviews are not as comprehensive as I find the writers on this board to be. It's hard to tell from them whether an excellent sight is something I want to see! Maybe someone who has been there will see this thread and chime in... Schoifmom? Schoifmom Posted June 14, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 14, 2016 I just wanted to make sure, as some people do get them confused.
Jolie_Cruiser Posted June 15, 2016 #7 Share Posted June 15, 2016 I dug out this old thread (which was left in the West Cost Forum after the Canada New/England was created). It has advice from locals. I think it might be helpful: "St John, Newfoundland" http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1990377&highlight=newfoundland&page=

maryann ns Posted June 15, 2016 #9 Share Posted June 15, 2016 That is a great thread. I have put it in my notes. St. John's does not get so many cruise ships so there is less information. If you get time to chat with some of the local people, especially in rural areas, you will likely find them very interesting. It would help others if you come back here after your cruise and tell us your experiences.
Rare chefestelle Posted June 15, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted June 15, 2016 I will! It's actually a pre-cruise stay but I will definitely report back. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
declansdad Posted June 20, 2016 #11 Share Posted June 20, 2016 Never cruised there but I have been there for work. Take a trip up Signal Hill. It is pretty cool and there are some trails up there you can walk. A trip to Cape Spear is nice if you have the time. Quidi Vidi is nice as well from what I have been told.
