Vision of the Seas Greece and Turkey - just back

Just returned from the July 23rd sailing of the Vision of the Seas. Numerous service issues - a lot of them chalked up to it "being the first day". Dining service was slow - no wine or ice tea for 45 minutes - because there were two children at the table and they took longer to serve. Service did improve after I complained and family with two children was substituted for a family with three children. Mezzanine deck was filthy with glasses and dishes accumulating throughout the day and never cleared. Except for two exceptional deck waitresses, the staff did not seem to care.

Food was adequate - not more - still trying to unsee the mess of grey meat they called bacon. $41 upcharge for filet and lobster in the main dining room???? Really?

My favourite was the .08 cent charge to my shipboard account that nobody could explain. The charge was from the dining room - front desk was baffled as nothingent charge until I am blue in the face. on the ship costs .08 cents. Maitre d said he would look into it but it was never done. I will fight for an explanation of this eight cent charge until I am blue in the face. There was also another incorrect charge made in the wee hours of the last night which took forever to resolve causing me to miss the sail in to Venice.

Any questions about other things I will be pleased to answer.

Did you get anything from the bar during dinner? Maybe when you signed your chit and wanted to make sure that no extra tip was charged, your "zero" was miskeyed as $.08. Just a thought. Sorry you had to spend time during your vacation to dispute this charge. We have friends sailing currently on Vision and I hope they are not experiencing your problems.

Hopefully your next cruise will be better.

We are diamond cruisers. We noticed on our last cruise bill [GOTS --July] that when we ordered a drink in a bar using our 3 free vouchers [reather than the Diamond Lounge] we were charged .01 each drink. [We gave our bartenders cash for tips rather than adding them on to the bill] We figured this was a way for there to be an accounting for each drink.

Since we gave cash for tips the bartenders did not even give us a slip to sign.

We both had drink packages, so we never had to sign any chits. I asked at the front desk, and he said that If I Had purchased something I should Have received the chit. But there was nothing. Is it worth going blue in the face? For me definitely - there needs to be some kind of explanation. I think it was done on purpose because I already had an issue - I made a formal complaint regarding a sexual comment by one of the dining room staff that would have gotten someone fired in North America. This was addressed by apologies, and it was a mistake and a misunderstanding - blah blah blah - followed by the random eight cent charge.

On the lighter side, friends we had met presented me with a casino slot machine chit for eight cents to pay my bill. It was a good laugh, and the chit is going in a frame.

hello,

I was wondering if you would be able to post the cruise compasses from this sailing. I am scheduled to be on the 10/15 cruise and since this is my first time with RCL I would love to see what their activities are like.

Also, I have looked into their internet packages. Can you tell me how good the wifi is? I am in a cabin with three people. If I get the 3 device plan will we be able to plot it three ways or does each person need to have a package?

Thank you in advance!!

Holly

Strange charges should be questioned. Although 8 cents would make me wonder if it's worth it.

We were on the Vision early June and I have to say it was superb. One of the best cruises we've had. Nice ship and a wonderful crew.

It's not the point of the eight cents - $8, $80, $800 - same thing. It is a charge that should not be there. The front desk was baffled by it, and easily removed it. The issue is that although the maitre d said he would look into it, nothing was ever done.

A few years ago I was charged on a Princess ship, in the dining room for drinks, although I had a drink package. I mentioned it to the maitre d, and he had the issue resolved immediately. I did not even have to go the front desk. There is a difference between bare minimum service and stellar service.

Regarding he Cruise Compass -we only received four of them and I did not bring them back from Europe.

Regarding the cabin (large oceanview on Deck 3 midships), it was snug for two - cosy - but definitely liveable. Three or four in that cabin would have been painful. The best thing about the cabin was that the window is huge - it seemed like the largest window I have ever had. It was always a pleasure coming back from a day on deck, or a day ashore, opening the door, and seeing the cabin flooded in the Adriatic/Aegean sun. The midship location worked out well too. Beds/mattresses were very comfortable.

Cabin was a bit Miami Vice, and the dresser drawers stuck, but all part of the charm. Lacking however were any bathrobes, shampoo, moisturizer, and sadly, not even a chocolate on a pillow at night (little things that are taken for granted on other lines).

Thank you. I love the big window part! :D

Did you utilize the wifi? Can you tell me whether it was good quality?

I had the surf only package (the cheaper package)

Absolutely fine for Facebook, email etc.

I was able to use YouTube but there was a bit of buffering.

I'd definitely use it again.
