Cruise port - Three word challenge!

Good Day All!

The day is getting nearer for our first ever cruise! Flying to Barcelona on Thursday 22nd, and sailing the day after!

I have been scouring these pages for information on the ports we are visiting, but it is so time consuming!

So, for a bit of fun, can you give me a three word review or advice for each port?

Palermo, Naples, Rome, Florence, Marseille and Palma de Mallorca

my three word comment before cruising?

Excited and apprehensive!

Regards to all

Can't do it in three words; way too limited. But I'll give you a phrase or two.

Palermo = Over-the-top history; crossroads of many civilizations.

Naples = Too many choices (Pompeii, Capri, Amalfi Coast); see Naples and die!

Rome = Catholic pomp; ancient history bumping up against modern urbanity.

Florence = A Renaissance swoon; feast for the eyes, stomach and soul.

Marseille = Real and gritty; rewarding upon a deeper look.

Palma de Mallorca = Haven't been there.

Palermo - birthplace of Mafia

Rome - tour Vatican Museum

Florence - Academia and Uffizzi

Marseille - head into Provence

Palma de Mallorca - hit the beach

I'm going to generalize to 2 words. Plan ahead.

Really, I hope you realize that in some of these ports you are not actually in the city that the cruise line hypes but rather a somewhat distant port. Think livorno for Florence or civitavecchia for Rome,. Even in Marseilles the port is somewhat of a challenge to town. At least in Naples you can walk into town although many of the prime tourist attractions are farther away.

God luck, enjoy your first cruise adventure.
