International immigration clearance time at MIA

Hi All

We are coming into MIA from London in April, does anybody have any experience of the immigration clearance and a rough guidance on the time it will take to get through.

Our pre-night cruise stay is in FLL and we are arranging our airport transfers, there are 7 of in total so looking at a private shuttle, but we are not sure what time to put as a pick up time on the inquiry form. Obviously we don't want the driver having to wait for us

Thanks

We had a dreadful time going through there earlier this year on a flight from London. Huge queue when we got off the plane. We had to queue for ages at the "Self service" passport area which looks at your passport then prints out a bit of paper. If you have an X on yours, you have been selected at random to stand in another huge queue to then be processed by a real person. Of course one of my family was selected, and we couldn't leave him so we all had to join the queue. All in all it took at least an hour and a half. If you are lucky and don't get the X, then probably about an hour might be a reasonable guess.

Decide to cruise from Port Canaveral this year instead - hopefully Orlando might be a bit better!
