OceansOfTravels Posted November 28, 2016 Author #27 Share Posted November 28, 2016 I've be4en using and Olympus "Tough" camera for the limited amount of underwater photography that I do. This was out at Sand Key, about seven miles due south of Key West... Pjk Great photo! Did you get to Sand Key while on a cruise or a land trip? OceansOfTravels Posted November 28, 2016 Author #28 Share Posted November 28, 2016 Great pix! Brought back memories of our first week long trip to KW last year I'm glad to hear! I love when I read reviews and I get port nostalgia. Makes me want to book another cruise and relive it all again :D Thank you so much for reading! peter_krynicki Posted November 29, 2016 #29 Share Posted November 29, 2016 Great photo! Did you get to Sand Key while on a cruise or a land trip? No, I go usually twice a year from New Jersey staying seven nights each time. I arrive on a Saturday and go out on the Floridays the next day on one of their afternoon snorkeling trips. They almost always go out to Sand Key which is my favorite place to snorkel. Pjk

Aquahound Posted December 1, 2016 #31 Share Posted December 1, 2016 Thank you for the info. I will keep this in mind if I ever rent a house down here, or if my parents go again sometime soon! :) If you ever stay in Key West, the best snorkeling is a little over 30 miles up the Keys. Looe Key blows away Sand Key. You can take a boat out of Bahia Honda State Park. It's totally worth the drive. In my opinion, it's the best dive/snorkel spot in the Keys. jaga04 Posted December 2, 2016 #32 Share Posted December 2, 2016 I agree that it's worth the drive to snorkel at Looe Key! We've gone out on boats through the park, as well as Strike Zone and Looe Key Reef Resort. All are fine---mainly depends on timing and availability.
