LIVEish, 12 Days on Oasis (12/11 and 12/18)

Time for the final 2am post on board Oasis...

Just to give a time reference, the start of the composition of this post is 2:10a.

For just about everyone this is the most depressing day of a cruise. Even the consecutive cruisers deal with it. The last day of their journey.

Today we were in Nassau, I wound up staying on the ship and just relaxing. When it came time to leave an announcement was made for three cruisers in the same family.

No idea if they were left behind or got on at the very last minute.

Other than doing the final process of packing didn't really do much today.

Quick breakfast and lunch in WJ where the cake of emense depression was served.

Like I had mentioned, nothing really, other than getting in another nice nap, was planned or done.

Pre dinner I enjoyed some final night liberations in the Champagne Bar and the enjoyed a final dinner in Coastal Kitchen.

After dinner was some name gathering, just to make sure I had them for the digital/email comment card.

The distribution of gratitude was done before and after dinner, depending on who it was.

While some greenbacks were given, some candy was also given out as well.

From the impression that was given, those that got candy did seem to be be grateful of it.

Like I said, today was an uneventful day.

With that in mind, I'm sad to post this picture.

After almost 14,000 views, it has been a pleasure having you folks follow along.

If I keep this a going this, got three more already planned for 2017 (January, May, and August/September).

Still ask questions: I'm sure someone, if not me, could answer the question.

End post @2:42

And that's a wrap! Thanks again for following my journey.

Meet up for the Suites/Pinnacles was the Champagne bar at 8:30 and think an earlier one at 7:30. Right around 8:30 the standard mobs were held up we were escorted off.

By passing the mobs for luggage hall access was done either via the elevators or escalator.

Once in the luggage hall the Porters were there to off their assistance. All the red tags were right by the entrance to the customs line.

Entering the line no tag and green tags were told to go left, restaurants go right. Those wanting to use a porter had a dedicated line.

From that point forwad was smooth rolling.

Right now leaving the Cortrans pickup from the Epic and heading to our drop off point and back home.

Great thread. Thanks for taking the time to bang out your reports on that little virtual keyboard. I assume that the final count on the drink package left you in the black? :D

Yeah got my values worth out of it.

Hi Michael,

Searched for you all 5 days but guess we were going in different directions. We were at Chefs Table in Suite Lounge the 2nd night. Were you in CK?

Went by Champagne Bar a few times but it was to early for you. Actually slept thru the Loyalty party and thus missed the fun. Ate breakfast in Diamond Lounge each morning and they had bagels and salmon each day. We also went there every evening except the 1st night when we went to Vintages before dinner.

Saw a Red Coach crossing from I75 to Ocala/Dunnellon while we were buying gas and thought maybe it was your coach heading to 19/98 and Tallahassee.

Really enjoyed reading your posts and glad you had 2 great cruises.

Was in CK the second night. Probably finishing up around 8:30.

Yeah, timing at the Champagne Bar was off this time around.

Dinner was normally planned for 7p range.

Never went to the Diamond Lounge the second segment. However a new server in the Champagne Bar was one in the Dazzles overflow from the first segment.

Still have yet to step in Vintages on an Oasis class, maybe next month.

If it was a white one, could have been us.

Glad you enjoyed reading and hope you enjoyed the cruise.

Grace -- thanks for letting me know that the DL had lox, bagels and cream cheese. I can indulge.

I co-manage the Current Concierge thread and the Google Doc that lists Concierges. I have Beatrice Chirmus as DL Concierge. Is that information right? And if so, how is she as a Concierge? Thanks

Yes, Beatrice is the current Concierge in DL. She is very pleasant and goes around talking to everyone during the beginning of happy hour. Then she's at her desk to help you. Our last request was handled promptly. As we made all our reservations ahead of time, we haven't used her in that aspect.

Glad to hear about Beatrice. We are D+ and in a JS (Not a full suite) so we will be using the DL. Our stateroom is near the DL.

Was the DL crowded? We are late seating and my experience is that the DL and CL are more crowded prior to first seating.

OK, so I lied about yesterday being the final 2 am post...

Today was a complicated one...

Kicked off ship and traveled back home.

Like I said, a complicated one.

Got the Compass for the first week scanned. Cheesed off I'm missing the activities insert for Thrusday (12/22). So if anyone might still have it, I would appreciate it.

Other than that, 22 days...

Still trying to wrap my head around doing a formal review/wrap-up. That is part that is the most difficult for me to process and write out.

Kind of why I liked the blogish approach.

Only other thing I can critique would the in suite/room nibbles.

Only items delivered were the loyalty cookies (in room on arrival) and a four item petifores plate. One plate for each member was provided.

Those were the only things and outside of a fruit basket, nothing on the Suite side.

Any interaction with Guest Services was pleasant and fairly quick wait (5-10 mins tops). Had to get my card replaced, extra key, and Voom codes. For the Voom one, I was helped in line by an agent that was roaming the line trying to assist.

Replacement card and extra key were not printed using Sky Class card stock, just the normal one. Not sure if this was an oversight. Both times needing the cards issued it was outside of the concierge hours.

Anything else, ask while it still might be fresh in my mind.

Yes, Beatrice is DLC and she is delightful. She will be on Oasis until June when she and Gabrielle from 150 Central Park (waiter) return home to be married in July. I believe they told us they will be returning to Oasis in Sept.

There were no onions or capers to go with the bagels, lox, cream cheese and lemon. DH still enjoyed. Enjoy

Our next cruise is Brilliance out of Tampa in April.

Michael,

I have the Daily Planner for 12/22 but unfortunately do not know how to upload it to you. You can email me at Snit13 at outlook .com and I can scan it and send it to you, if no one else has it.

We were on the first leg of your trip! Reading through your posts makes me miss that wonderful ship!

The day we boarded we noticed dumpsters full of old mattresses- we pulled back the covers and ours looked new- this was confirmed by the room steward. There is also a foam egg crate topper sandwiched in between the top and bottom mattress pads- slept like a baby all week[emoji3]

That is so cool about Beatrice marrying Gabrielle. We are dining at 150 Central Park on night 4 -- Falmouth, Jamaica. We will mention that we are dining there to her.

I can live without onions and capers for the bagels, lox and cream cheese. As long the 3 items are well stocked and there are plain or sesame bagels rather than strawberry or blueberry bagels, I am fine. DL is a nice quiet place for breakfast.

Thanks for the info on Park Cafe and salmon. Wonder if they have it if one asked.

Do the SL and DL have smoked salmon on the continental breakfast buffet? I always get it there, along with the specialty coffees, in the morning. A week of lox, bagel and cream cheese is always great for me.

I was not impressed one bit with the Park Cafe. The beef sandwich was decent, but nothing special, certainly not the raving I've heard about. The soups were awful. Vegetable pesto soup, was basically drinking pesto flavored water and cream of chicken soup had not a single bite of chicken or vegetable it. All other places we ate were excellent, but this place was the equivalent of a high school cafeteria, at best.
