I booked our family cruise but the price was steep. Since i am a year and a half away do prices or sales help the price to come down. How can you keep an eye on sales

thanks all

I "save" the cruise in my personalizer online. That makes it quicker to bring up that particular cruise when about once a week I check for a price drop. Sometimes it gets complicated when sales or specials are offered as the combination of benefits versus fare has to be analyzed to see which is the better deal.

If you see a better deal, call your TA or Princess (if you booked directly) and rebook. Beware that if your are inside the full payment date, you may not be able to get the new deal.

Chances are the list price will not come down significantly. However various "sales" which include perks such as free gratuities make the effective price of the cruise come down. You can, before final payment (at least in the USA and Canada), rebook to the new price and promotion, but will lose any extras that came with the original booking if there were any.

Reason I say this is that for Carnival Corporation (which owns Princess) as a whole, bookings for next year are "well ahead" of what they were for 2016 at this time last year. And, again as a whole, at "significantly higher" pricing.

So if there is less inventory left to sell than in the past, then it is unlikely there will be good sales with a decent drop in the basic price.

Of course since your cruise is in 2018, it is too early to know what the overall booking situation will be a year from now for 2018.
