Tips for booking a Fjords cruise

Book with Celebrity. They have a floating pontoon in Gereinger which means you don't have to use the tender boats like other companies.

Flam - definitely the train journery

Stavagner - oil refinery museum is in walking distance and is interactive

Bergen - easy DIY, tourist train, fish markets, funicular

Gereinger - take a trip. The rib boat is great fun. Hot chocolate is good here, buttons of chocolate added to hot milk.

Get a balcony cabin - the view outside is better than the theatre, stunning, so quiet and it changes every minute

Thanks - would but the Silhouette isn't doing the Fjords when we can sail :(

We always go for a balcony - just love sitting, watching the sea go by

Further to my last post urging caution about booking a Fjords cruise on Britannia, when choosing your itinerary keep in mind that Bergen and Stavanger are more coastal ports than Fjord ports. Most cruises tend to go to one or both, but if your priority is scenery and proper Fjords then, as others have said, places like Flaam, Olden & Gerainger are the best bets.

We would do a Fjord cruise again in a heartbeat (not on Britannia though, much as we love the ship), but wouldn't book one doing both Stavanger and Bergen again as, once you factor in the sea days getting to and from Norway, that only leaves 2 days (max) to see the best of the Fjords.

A balcony is an absolute must as it's the most scenic destination you will cruise to.

We're going to a cruise show this weekend and seeing what cruiselines offer. Just checked out one in May but too expensive as a 2nd holiday .... paticularly when we are away Feb half term and August. The one in May seemed expensive.... especially when it is a no fly one...... simioar to a week's fly cruise
