Jonjhawk Posted December 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2016 Do you have to have reservations before hand to be able to go to the beach?/ Do i need to pay to be allowed to come? Or if anyone recommends another beach in South Friars Bay to go to that is cheaper/ no reservations required and still nice that would be great too!!! paul58 Posted December 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 27, 2016 All beaches on St Kitts are free to the public to use. Places like Carambola own lounge chair that they rent to paying customers.
PORT ROYAL Posted December 27, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2016 All beaches on St Kitts are free to the public to use. Places like Carambola own lounge chair that they rent to paying customers. The foreshore is free for public use. At Carambola at low tide is approximately two feet from the end of the sunbeds. The Carambola beach is their's, as they pay for the sand every year to be replaced. One pays for the beds and get to use of all the facilities at Carambola. Best to book in advance. Towels only (nonpayers) are usually asked to leave or pay.
LinVirginia Posted March 1, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 1, 2017 I read that The beach at Discovery has a 45 degree drop. Is the entry at Carambola gentle? Easy accessibility is important to us.

Does anyone know if this is true of Discovery? Was planning on going there in September.
PORT ROYAL Posted March 9, 2017 #6 Share Posted March 9, 2017 Does anyone know if this is true of Discovery? Was planning on going there in September. Nothing will stop one from going to Discovery. The top section of Discovery (scrub land) is flat, but the beach does slope somewhat, and 45 degrees (give or take a couple) is about correct, but beds are free when taking food and drinks. Beds at Shipwreck are also free, again when taking food and drinks, but share the same sloping beach. At Carambola, they own the flat sandy beach, having paid for it every year, but one must book beds in advance and pay on arrival. Or be a Towel, just seek in, making no attempt pay, and use all the facilities, until being invited to part with money, or leave.
Rare mitsugirly Posted March 18, 2017 #7 Share Posted March 18, 2017 Here's your slope... The black sand there was amazing...and even more so on down a little (this is Discovery). It sparkled in the sun and looked like diamonds.
pxy cda Posted April 23, 2017 #8 Share Posted April 23, 2017 https://www.facebook.com/discoverybeachbarskb/ Discovery beach bar on Friars is a sweet unassuming spot between shipwreck and Carambola Liz Pereira arranged for transport to this slice of heaven see her on facebook for tours and reliable transport while visiting the island: https://www.facebook.com/liz.pereira.792?fref=ufi . This beach bar is as authentic as it comes. The proprietor, Morsey, lives on site and built the place by hand. He is laid back and keeps an immaculate and welcoming space for those looking for a relaxing easy vibe. Bob Marley wafted gently as we enjoyed our loungers under the palms. Bathrooms were clean and fully plumbed. The place is rustic but it is immaculate. Morsey is also a great cook! We had the best meal of our cruise - the fish was spectacular and those famous wings are delectable. Presentation was up there with a 4 star restaurant (don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior - this place is a gem) A great relaxing day and the best day of our cruise - we will be back for certain!
