Molson99 Posted December 30, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 30, 2016 I redeemed some points from my HAL credit card for beverage cards. Will I see them as actual beverage cards in my stateroom upon sailing, or will the amount be a on board credit? Who ever I ask at the Barclay card office simply states it will be available upon our sailing. Thanks Sent from my iPad using Forums

An actual card should be in your room when you board. It's never failed for us! :). Edited December 30, 2016 by jtl513
just_cruising_along Posted December 30, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2016 Everything we have redeemed with Barclay's has shown up in our stateroom upon sailing. The only confirmation you will receive, prior to your voyage, is the auto-generated email from Barclay's. A few years ago, we called Barclay's to double check and they told us to call HAL. HAL did not know either, but our travel agent was able to track it down. However, since then, we have not checked prior to our voyage, we have never had to worry about the shore excursion credits or beverage cards being applied once onboard. It is a nice little perk. Have a great cruise.

It is a nice little perk. Have a great cruise. Agree that the beverage card will be in the stateroom, but this time I chose "spa credits". There was no option for generic OBC, which is what I want, to use as I choose. When I redeemed , it did say "will show as credit on your onboard account" or something to that effect. Can you confirm that your excursion credit was on your account as simply a credit for that amount? Thanks

Thanks I always choose "excursion credit" and it shows up as a general Gift Order ... to be used for anything.. jtl513 Posted December 31, 2016 #8 Share Posted December 31, 2016 Yes, when we redeemed the shore excursions, there was a card/note in our stateroom saying that the credit was on our account. Whenever we've done it there was a card that had to be signed and returned via the room steward before it was posted to our account.
cruisin'teach Posted January 1, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 1, 2017 Be sure to bring copies of any of your emails about redemptions as a back up in case they don't show up on your bill. That way you will have proof if there are any questions or problems.
just_cruising_along Posted January 2, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 2, 2017 Whenever we've done it there was a card that had to be signed and returned via the room steward before it was posted to our account. Many years ago, we too, had to sign and then return the card to the front prior to receiving credit. More recently, it was directly applied to our ship board account. Not sure if there were different procedures for different ships, or the process had changed. Either way, it worked. :)

kelleherdl Posted March 9, 2017 #13 Share Posted March 9, 2017 I cashed reward points for $200 in casino chips. The cashier didn't seem to know what to do with the cards. After speaking with her manager she just counted out $200 in cash. Took the cash and never stepped foot in the casino for the rest of the cruise. Had she given me chips I would have undoubtedly loss some at the blackjack table. Their loss. :)
