Excursion suggestion...Western Caribbean

Recommended Posts

Hey all....so we're headed on a Western Caribbean cruise with RC in April- myself, my wife and 2 kids ages 11 and 6. We have about $600 in credit and we'd possibly like to use that to do an excursion. Can any recommend something? We're going to George Town, Cozumel and Costa Maya. Thank you for any feedback!

In Cozumel, the Amazing Race Cozumel is great fun: http://amazingcozumelrace.com/

If you want a more laid back beach/pool day, then either Mr. Sanchos (http://www.mrsanchos.com/) or Nachi Cocom (http://www.cozumelnachicocom.com/) is great.

In Georgetown, swimming with the Stingrays is a good excursion, which you can do through the cruise line or independently: http://www.stingraycitytrips.com/info/about_stingraycity.shtml

We've never been to Costa Maya, unfortunately, so can't offer any suggestions there.

Hope you have a great trip.

in Cozumel, we do Nachi Cocum but we don't have kids with us. Playa Mia has a nicer kids swim area.

in Costa Maya, we've done Nohoch Kay (beach club), once again, nothing for the kids. If you want educational then definitely do the independent tour with David and Ivan to the Mayan ruins (or book it through RCI)

in Georgetown, everyone does 7 mile beach. You can do a taxi tour of the area that will take you out to the Rum Cake store, Hell, and the turtle farm. The turtle farm will have an additional fee but it does now have a kids water park in the back.

I've swam with dolphins twice, once in Cozumel and once in Georgetown. The experience in Cozumel was much better and the experience was closer to the brochure description than what we got in Georgetown

Amazing secret river in Cozumel! Favorite excursion ever!! Took our boys ages 7 & 10 and they did a great job navigating through the tight spots and swimming through the deep parts. You need to book via the ship, but you can scope out their website here http://www.riosecreto.com/gallery.asp#photos-and-videos

I second the stingray excursion at Grand Cayman! The water out on the sandbar is so beautiful I can't even describe it!! And the interaction with the Rays is awesome!!!

We don't do a lot of excursions, but that is one I would definitely do again!!

Have a wonderful cruise!!!

Another vote for sting ray city, I would not use RCCL excursion, on our last trip boat was extremely over crowded.

Excellent point. Look for a private operator for the Sting Ray City excursion. Much less crowded.
