Heavy winds and Nassau?

50kmph/31mps/27knt winds predicted next Monday (Jan 9th) in Nassau. Does anyone know at what point it says too windy to head into Nassau port? Our plan was to walk to Junkanoo beach, but that will be far too windy to enjoy - any other recommendations that might be more sheltered?

Even if it's not as windy as predicted, the water temperatures in Nassau in January are on the very chilly side. :o

I have one but won't need it. I was working outside at -28C yesterday morning. Only gonna be -20C today. Believe me, it will seem warm.

Amen to that. Heading there in two weeks and can't wait to get out of the freezing gray weather into sunshine and blue water.

On a windy day in Nassau, we would go to the British Colonial Hilton- near the port- as it has a pool and plenty of amenities such as a good bar and restaurant.

Is it true that the Hilton is very close to the port (walking distance)? Also... how is the beach section? Are you swimming where the cruise ships are basically?

It is very close to the ships, and u can see them easily from the beach there.

I have been there in Jan and Feb and always swam in the ocean.....warmer than the warmest days here in the summer for water temps so go figure!

its amazing on the ride down how you can see the water change from crap to beauty once you get further from the USA.

i do wonder how people handle the summers down here. i thought it was too hot in december, i cannot imagine a july cruise
