Tinious Posted January 4, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2017 50kmph/31mps/27knt winds predicted next Monday (Jan 9th) in Nassau. Does anyone know at what point it says too windy to head into Nassau port? Our plan was to walk to Junkanoo beach, but that will be far too windy to enjoy - any other recommendations that might be more sheltered?

Even if it's not as windy as predicted, the water temperatures in Nassau in January are on the very chilly side. :o

squiffynimrod Posted January 4, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 4, 2017 Won't be an issue, I'm from Nova Scotia :) Well at least yours is still wet. Ours is kinda hard. I'll be in Nassau on the 16th and I'm going swimming regardless of the temps. It will seem glorious!

squiffynimrod Posted January 4, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 4, 2017 Have you at least considered a light weight short Wet Suit? I have one but won't need it. I was working outside at -28C yesterday morning. Only gonna be -20C today. Believe me, it will seem warm.

cruiseapril Posted January 5, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 5, 2017 On a windy day in Nassau, we would go to the British Colonial Hilton- near the port- as it has a pool and plenty of amenities such as a good bar and restaurant.

Is it true that the Hilton is very close to the port (walking distance)? Also... how is the beach section? Are you swimming where the cruise ships are basically? monctonguy Posted January 5, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 5, 2017 (edited) It is very close to the ships, and u can see them easily from the beach there. I have been there in Jan and Feb and always swam in the ocean.....warmer than the warmest days here in the summer for water temps so go figure!
