Banana Benders Posted January 18, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2017 We are first time cruises with Costa, but have cruise with RCI and P&O. RCI allow you to bring 2 x bottles of wine on board ( no spirits or cased soft drink) and P&O allow water and soft drink ( no alcohol) So what is Costa allow ????? We are cruising out of Barcelona for the first time and really looking forward to a new experience. Have heard so much negative about Costa, but we have heard the same with every cruise ship we have Been on. If you look at it, it's the same people doing the whinging [emoji848][emoji848][emoji848] sometime they just need to chill and enjoy the experience and not worry about not getting peanuts at the bar. G.M.T. Posted January 19, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2017 Sorry to say that Costa does not allow any drinks or food to be brought onboard, anything that is found will be taken and returned at the end of the cruise. This is from Costa UK Website: "It is also prohibited to carry food and drink on board in your hand baggage or cabin luggage." Have a great cruise. G.M.T. Posted January 19, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 19, 2017 Have you looked at the All Inclusive drinks packages? Cheapest of any cruise line.
Banana Benders Posted January 20, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted January 20, 2017 (edited) We are not big drinker, but like nice glass of wine before dinner and one with dinner. So was nice with RCI to bring our own, all cruise company's add 400% to the battle prices So will still get our glass of wine [emoji485][emoji485][emoji485] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Edited January 20, 2017 by Banana Benders
ighten Posted January 21, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 21, 2017 tbf even without the drinks pkg Costas markup is not as high as many lines. But I still would consider the pkg for the good coffee and your bottled water
Bat1 Posted January 21, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 21, 2017 In Barcelona your hand luggage is inspected by the Por Authority, and after that you can purchase water and wine at the Free Shops and put it in your hand luggage (no more inspections). Aboard the ship you can purchase drink packages more suitable to your affinities than the All Inc. and better than buying wine by the cup ( in my humble opinion :) Enjoy! CASPALL Posted January 22, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 22, 2017 If your wine is in your checked in luggage you might be lucky and get away with it. We boarded with a bottle of wine we hadn't managed to drink in our Savona hotel and it got through all right. We didn't drink it onboard as we had the all inclusive Brindiamo package. As regards buying the package/not drinking much - on our summer Costa cruise we didn't buy the package as we thought it wouldn't be worthwhile. Boy were we wrong! The first day cost us a few pounds more than the package and we had been holding back!! A few coffees, water and wine with dinner, Diet Coke...it soon adds up. We were only on a7 day cruise but the bar manager agreed to sell us the package for the next 6 days. Caryl

And for the little ones, a wide choice of drinks and mineral water with their meals in the restaurant and at the buffet.
ighten Posted February 22, 2017 #10 Share Posted February 22, 2017 Can you get free bottles of water to take to the room through your package?
G.M.T. Posted February 23, 2017 #11 Share Posted February 23, 2017 With the drinks packages, all drinks come by the glass (including water).
CASPALL Posted February 25, 2017 #12 Share Posted February 25, 2017 We usually get large glasses of water from the pool bar and take them back to our cabin where we pour them into a wide neck bottle we have taken onboard with us.
ighten Posted March 7, 2017 #13 Share Posted March 7, 2017 Just back off the Diadema and though we had the Brindi and water was not an issue at dining time we still thought we would miss having a few bottles in the cabin to take out "locked and loaded" on excursions/trips etc and for bedtime (though I have to admit the water was good and soft on this shop compared to others) As soon as we boarded in Barc everyone was buying 6 pack 1.5l bottles of water and this happened at every port so we just did the same. No one even remotely questioned it.

Presumably people just put them in their carry on luggage? PS: spent much of this Sunday morning reading your blog ( yes all of it!) Many thanks :-)
