MarkTapley Posted July 13, 2017 #26 Share Posted July 13, 2017 Have you checked out the ports of call section of Cruise Critic? There is a section for Asia and then search for "Taj Mahal" -- you'll see the the search tool at the top right of the page. When questions are port specific and not cruise line specific, it is many times better to also ask the question in the ports of call forum because the audience is bigger. (But, if you are looking for people to share a tour, you want to do that in the roll call for that sailing). There is no roll call yet for your September 8 cruise. You can either wait for someone else to start it or you can do the honors and start it. There actually is a roll call for the September 8, 2018 cruise: "Across the Bay of Bengal..." listed with the other Spirit cruises.

deec Posted July 14, 2017 #28 Share Posted July 14, 2017 ZumbaShelly, Here is the description that has been posted for our WC. Cost is $1799/pp Marvel at India’s most iconic treasure during a two-night excursion into the country’s heart. Fly to Delhi for an overnight stay and transfer to Agra the next day. Here, stop to visit the red-sandstone Agra Fort, a sprawling example of Mughal architecture. Within this walled city, it is said that 500 buildings once stood in service to the emperor Shah Jahan. From here, he could oversee the construction of his spectacular Taj Mahal; built in memory of his wife, this magnificent monument to eternal love is the glimmering depiction of perfect balance and symmetry. You will have two opportunities to admire its grandeur up close: at sunset and at sunrise, each casting its massive dome and minarets in magical light. During your stay at a nearby hotel, enjoy a Kathak performance of traditional dance. After an immersive experience, return to Delhi for your flight back to Cochin and your ship. A&D Cruising Posted January 16, 2018 #29 Share Posted January 16, 2018 Hi there. Just seeing your post now for some reason. We did go ahead and book the cruise in a PS3 cabin. Now just a little over a year to wait. Hello doctorj2--I have started a roll call for the July 15 sailing and registered a Meet and Mingle. There has been no activity to date on the roll call--except for me. There are quite a few "views" though. Hoping that we will see something soon. We are interested in looking at sharing private tours for some of the ports since it seems that some of the included tours may not be what we are looking for. We are doing a 2 night pre-cruise in Barcelona and will do some "on our own tours" there.
PlanoTim Posted January 16, 2018 #30 Share Posted January 16, 2018 We are also on the September 8, 2018 Viking Spirit...which is the second leg of our Cultural Explorations "world cruise". So far there is not word on a shore excursion to the Taj Mahal. I've researched such an excursion and it involves a flight and then a land trip to reach the Taj Mahal. Has anyone found any information on this?:) You may want to check to see if the Taj Mahal will be worth the trip when you will be there. I read an article, Fodor’s No List 2018, that says the Taj Mahal’s dome (and 4 minarets) will be caked in mud paste as was used to clean other parts of the monument. "Originally, this was to be wrapped up by March of 2018 but now officials are saying that work won’t begin until March of 2018. So unless your dream Taj Mahal visit involves being photographed standing in front of a mud-caked and be-scaffolded dome, maybe give it until 2019 at the earliest."
