Thanks to everyone posting info. Can you please let us know what the evening entertainment in the theatre is like? I realize it's very subjective, but is it comparable to other lines/ships, and is the cruise director a good one?

As you have put entertainment is subjective, I myself was an entertainer for 20+ years and find it difficult to be entertained, we saw 2 shows in the theatre both excellent, the on-board team are very professional, with varied activities from circus & balloon workshops to origami & quizzes, also sudoku & crosswords to karaoke. But by far my favourite was "PRISM" in galaxy of the stars, 4 piece band with M & F singer, a mixture of ballads and slow dance music to salsa & country, then we threw them a curved ball and requested BON JOVI & they even covered that, so a very varied repertoire. The cruise director is Jill, an (English northern lass) very down to earth, but maybe not everyone's cup of tea :D

Thanks Clownboy and Keith Jenner - great info! Nice to hear the entertainment is of a good standard - we have been on Celebrity (one ship had very underwhelming entertainment, and one had unbelievable shows) and on RCI, (mostly very good), so am looking forward to seeing what Norwegian offers on our first NCL cruise.

Hi Mark, is the album "public"? If not, then only your friends can see it. Would you mind changing it to public?

Thanks Mark (Clownboy&jobo,), I can see the album now. Great pictures. Thanks for sharing!

I just saw it now, great pics. Looks like you had a blast! What a fabulous way to celebrate a special anniversary.

as you can see........................ she is not a tatty old girl as some comments state........ as my review states I cannot compare her with a newer ship, sailing caribbean, etc. the new carpets can clearly be seen in the atrium as can the rug under the grand piano $2m versace............. entertainment, dining, ambience on board, everything is subjective............... the best thing I could put is, go enjoy, experience and then remember.

Happy Cruising everyone

Mark & Joanne

Got back from Barcelona yesterday, very enjoyable cruise. Have a few pictures of MDR menus but cannot upload, get this message:

Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing.

Can anyone advise?

Thought ship very pleasant although did not like smoke in casino. Will try to answer questions ...

Is there any difference in the food served in the Windows and Garden restaurants. Do people have a preference for any reason?

The menus are the same.

Windows is more formal (you aren't supposed to wear shorts). Personally, I think it's a nicer venue.

the menus are pretty much the same....... Windows has a higher ceiling height due to auditorium seating above so it goes up into the void....... if you sit in the middle of garden away from the natural light/windows it can be a little dark, but some might call that romantic?? both are on deck 6 one is accessible from midships lifts one from stern lifts........... the oriental complementary restaurant SHOGUN was our least favourite of all the dining options on board....... (but all opinions are mine and you will be best trying them yourselves) the best I can say is, there have been some modes changes whilst in dry dock, entertainment/dining/ambience are all subjective. please go & enjoy yourselves

Regards Mark

Hi, thanks for your positive comments. How were the cabins? I believe they are still quite dated, but were they still comfortable, and did the bed/mattress in your cabin seem new? I don't mind a dated cabin, but would mind if the bed was old and uncomfortable. Thanks

My daughter and son, 27 & 25, shared a balcony on deck 11, cabin 11036. When beds made up to twin there was about a 10 inch gap between them but OK. There was about 20 inch gap between end of bed and cabin wall. Plenty of storage space, coffee machine and minibar that they did not use. Carpets clean and bathroom also clean and good size, basin in between the wc and shower. Shower had proper door but did get blocked one day, steward sorted out. They both thought it was good, beds comfortable and only complained about the main door, which they thought did not fit properly and got a bit draughty. Not noisy either.

My wife and I had Leo suite, 10518 on deck 10. Good size, about equal to two balconies. The first half had good storage with minibar and nespresso machine, shelves with glasses etc. A small table with 4 chairs, 2 seater sofa and small armchair and full length doors to the balcony. Balcony same size as regular balcony cabin, 2 comfortable rattan chairs and small table. Carpet old but clean but wall paper on wall scuffed in places. 42 inch TV on wall, not good quality - make I did not recognise.

Second half was separated from first by double sliding doors, we found them heavy and hard to move, not good as someone standing in the cabin doorway had a good view of the shower if they were open!

There was a comfortable double bed, mattress not new but OK. For some reason we had 8 pillows of various types! Plenty of storage space, drawers, built in wardrobe with sliding doors, lots of hangers. Two safes in wardrobe but very small, iPad 9.7 Pro only fitted if tilted sideways, would not get a laptop in them. Dressing table with lights, good hairdryer and more drawers. Curtains separate bed from dressing area and bath room. Good size WC cubicle with half obscured door. Double basins and a Jacuzzi corner bath at one end with shower cubicle next to it. Old fashioned hairdryer next to mirrors, not very good. This was where the age showed, the shower cubicle has plaster moulding round the window, this was peeling and needed repair. The Jacuzzi jet control did not work. Also when running a bath the water was sometimes discoloured, once when rinsing my gym top it stained it and I had to ask the butler to get it laundered. Air conditioning control in the bedroom area got stuck and started dripping, damp carpet as a result. Again very promptly fixed and big fan dryer put in room to dry carpet.

Despite all that we were very comfortable, heard a few foot steps from cabins above but otherwise quiet. Good position for forward stairs and lifts and easy walk down to decks 8 and 7 or up to 11 and 12.

Thanks Number34 - sounds pretty much as expected for an older ship, although we were on the Celebrity Millennium a couple of years ago (about the same age as the Spirit) and the cabins were in perfect condition.

For me - a spotlessly clean cabin and a comfortable bed is my expectation on a cruise. Anything more is icing on the cake.

I have read some reports that the beds seemed new after this drydock but after your comments it seems they weren't replaced in all cabins:(

Anyone have any updates as to what was done in dry dock? I'm guessing not a lot, but I'm curious as to whether rooms/ beds were updated as it seemed to be a common complaint I read in reviews.

That said I can't wait til our med cruise on the 18th May. It's our first ever cruise :D:)

Hi JG&Lcruisingnewbies, I'm sailing on the Spirit June 29th, it's my first cruise as well, can't wait for the day:D

Just a quick update from the Spirit.

As I expected, there are no noticeable changes from when we were onboard last (Summer 2015). We did suffer from the musty smell in the toilet previously, but haven't noticed anything like that this time. I think it's been generally tidied up. Everything looks in good condition to me.

Thank You Keith! I tried to look up videos/pictures of the Spirit spa area but no luck. Have you or any of your family tried it? I know it's not like the thermal spa on Escape but wanted to know if it's worth it on the Spirit. Thanks in advance for any info.

I just got off the Spirit on 4/12/17. She's beautiful! Elegant ship, and they cleared out much of the Asian decorations, but left a few. Very uncluttered look now.

It appears all the carpets are new: not faded, stained, or worn from traffic. Our cabin, 4570, had new drapes, upholstery, and bed skirts. Immaculate bathroom. No smells at all.

Food snd service was excellent in the main dining room, buffet, Cagney's, and Le Bistro. We had none of the very long dinner times mentioned before.

Our cruise was very port-intensive, so we were too tired to check out the entertainment.

I loved this ship, crew, and the cruise was one of my best in 43 years of cruising!
