Rare MicCanberra Posted February 6, 2017 #26 Share Posted February 6, 2017 Lucky to have a grain terminal as a cruise terminal? I don't know if 'lucky' is the word I would use lol It is better than not getting ships (the larger ones anyway) visiting.

I don't know if 'lucky' is the word I would use lol Yeah, I had a similar thought. I guess it's a matter of perspective. I'd prefer a working port near town e.g Napier, or with its own shuttle to town (e.g. Noumea) than a grain terminal very remote from anything. Mr&MrsCookie Posted February 6, 2017 #29 Share Posted February 6, 2017 True...still embarrassing though - especially when the really nice ships stop there

It is remote if you want to get to the city, but there are some things on the south side to do and see. There is Manly Harbour and the ferry to St Helena Island. There is a ferry across the Bay to the Wrecks at Moreton Island almost next door to the port, although the schedule is poor. If for some reason you can't get to Lone Pine and are desperate to see some koalas, there is the Daisy Hill Koala Centre. If you want to do something unusual for overseas travelers, take them to the Macleay Island Bowls Club by ferry from Redland Bay. Beautiful views and a game of bowls to boot. There is more to Brisbane than the CBD.

Not just remote in terms of the city, but other services, and many sights. For example, both Gold coast and theme parks are popular destinations. Again, it's further away from these. Similarly Australia zoo. And similarly in terms of public transport, or even car hire. While there are some things nearby, I don't believe they're in the top sights of most visitors to Brisbane. Newby58 Posted March 23, 2017 #33 Share Posted March 23, 2017 That's just plain dishonest, regardless of what you think other people did. No. The dishonesty is taking our money and let ANYONE board and not pay. We did the right thing. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
