You can only do your AC seat selection online if you booked through Air Canada; for codeshare flights, you will have to call them ( with the locator you get from UA).

In the last few days they have made some changes and seat selection is now available online for some booking done through travel agents or third parties. If you can't do it online you can always call them and do it over the phone using your Air Canada locator number.

I think you'll find Air Canada better than US carriers, especially in long haul business class. I'm flying them from Toronto to Tokyo (HND) in a few months (nonstop!).

Look in your reservation on line for "Other Booking Numbers" to find the AC booking number. Or, you may need to call them. You need to use the AC number to get your seats.

 

I found the AC locator number and it did take me to my reservation on the site, but it's not allowing me to make seat selections. No problem, I can call them.
