cruzinchad Posted February 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2017 Hi All What is the best currency to use in the Eastern Caribbean. I'll be changing from £ sterling would I be better off with the US $ or EC $ (XCD). I'm obviously wanting to get the most for my money both in exchange rates and when buying items. Thanks
Rare Essiesmom Posted February 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2017 The US$ is accepted all over the Caribbean, with the possible exception of Martinique and the French side of St. Martin, which would probably prefer the euro. But to be sure about the latter, check on the Ports of Call boards here for the Caribbean. EM
Bonnie J. Posted February 12, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2017 Most also take credit cards but once they wouldn't take American Express but know about that now. Some may also take debit cards. So you can use those as well as cash.
Rare VMax1700 Posted February 12, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 12, 2017 U.S. Dollars. With the current cr@p exchange rate do a calculation of what you expect to spend on tours/drinks etc, as you do not want to exchange too much and have it sitting in your wallet/purse for no reason. (though you could lodge leftover $ bills towards your onboard account - presuming ship has dollars for its currency). Larger purchases use a credit card. (apologies for the long, grammatically, incorrect sentence!)
