Rare MicCanberra Posted February 25, 2017 #27 Share Posted February 25, 2017 Yes, that was my impression as well - that it was a Celebrity shorex. The article I read didn't specify but it certainly makes sense with how they reacted after the accident.
Purples Posted February 25, 2017 #28 Share Posted February 25, 2017 Hope the injured are improving. Have just read on another forum suggesting why can't ships anchor in Lyttleton as they do in Akaroa and tender to shore - until the wharf is fixed - so much closer to Christchurch and not have to travel over the huge hills. Surely this would be a better option.

Surely this would be a better option. Now thats a good idea. There are smaller wharves along from the container wharf where the cruise ships used to dock in Lyttleton, where they could land 2 or 3 tenders at a time . ....added bonus ...passengers could just walk into the local town....:):)

Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted February 26, 2017 #33 Share Posted February 26, 2017 We've heard nothing more about it onboard however sometimes we miss some of the announcements when we are in our cabin. The cruise is going very well. We had gorgeous weather for the Fiordland scenic cruising and even the Tasman Sea behaved itself moderately well. Some big swells one night but calmer yesterday.
