Tour bus crash Akaroa

Recommended Posts

Hope the injured are improving. Have just read on another forum suggesting why can't ships anchor in Lyttleton as they do in Akaroa and tender to shore - until the wharf is fixed - so much closer to Christchurch and not have to travel over the huge hills. Surely this would be a better option.

Now thats a good idea. There are smaller wharves along from the container wharf where the cruise ships used to dock in Lyttleton, where they could land 2 or 3 tenders at a time . ....added bonus ...passengers could just walk into the local town....:):)

They certainly have to get that dock fixed quicker and this may help inject some much needed funds to do that and solve Akaroa's issues at the same time.

Found this update today:

http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/news/89815475/akaroa-bus-crash-two-remain-in-hospital

So the driver of the car is still in IC, and the bus driver stable. All the passengers are ok.

Best wishes to all.

Good news I suppose overall, although it doesn't bode well for the person still in IC. hope they can recover.

We've heard nothing more about it onboard however sometimes we miss some of the announcements when we are in our cabin.

The cruise is going very well. We had gorgeous weather for the Fiordland scenic cruising and even the Tasman Sea behaved itself moderately well. Some big swells one night but calmer yesterday.

Glad you are enjoying yourself and the sea and weather have been behaving.
