What's the earliest you've booked a cruise?

We booked Infinity Panama Canal for 4/17/05 while we were on her to Hawaii 9/26/03. That way we had our pick of the aft cabins and a $200 cabin credit to get us started. We usually do research before boarding all sailings so we know what we want to book for the next one! (to get that cabin credit)

Wow, glad to see we're not the only ones to book so far ahead. Booked our British Isles/Norwegian Fjords cruise for July 2005 last March. Wanted to be sure to get the aft cabin we wanted. My TA loves it! icon_smile.gif

We book our Oct. 26 2003 transatlantic the day bookings opened in June 2002. We would have booked the fall 2005 transatlantic while on that cruise or on the Century in January this year, but booking weren't open nor are they now open. The day bookings open, we will book our fall 2005 transatlantic as we plan on doing the same cruise every other year.

Usually 14 -15 months out for us. As a teacher I am limited by school vacations, and know those can be the busy times, so we book early to get a room or room area we want. We're now looking at Feb. 2006 and I assumed it was too early still. I didn't expect to try until around Oct. It sounds like maybe I don't have to wait after all!

We booked in May for a March/2005 cruise.

Two things:

1. It wasn't a great deal. The discount sites like Orbitz, Cruises Only and Travelocity have the exact same price as Celebrity directly. I will switch our booking away from Celebrity once (or if) a discount TA has a better deal.

2. In order to have pre-existing conditions covered by a cruise insurance company, the premium has to be paid within 14 days of initial cruise payment. Also, it is non-refundable. That can be a long time to have one's money tied up. Also, if you cancel the cruise without replacing it with another one, you have lost your premium payment!

Any comments from veteran cruisers???

Hi Brenda and all,

Last year, we booked our May and Sept. Transatlantics for this year in July when the schedule came out. We've booked the British Isles/Norway cruise for next July. Missed out on aft balcony, but got 6143 instead.

Hi Jdlewis,
